- American Express is offering some existing Business Gold cardholders a spending bonus. Bonus is broken down as follows (spend needs to be completed by 10/15/18):
- Spend $5,000 and receive 20,000 Membership Rewards points
- Spend an additional $5,000 and receive an additional 10,000 Membership rewards points
The Fine Print
- The offer consists of two tiers (the two tiers, collectively, the “Offer”), each of which are subject to the terms and conditions described herein.
- First Tier: Earn 20,000 Membership Rewards points after you use your enrolled Card to spend at least $5,000 (the “First Tier Spend Requirement”) on qualifying purchases* between the date you enrolled through 10/15/18 (the “Offer Period”);
- Second Tier: Earn an additional 10,000 Membership Rewards points after you use your enrolled Card to spend at least an additional $5,000 (the “Second Tier Spend Requirement”) on qualifying purchases* during the Offer Period.
Our Verdict
First tier is an additional 4x points per $1 spent if you spend exactly $5,000 and the next tier is an extra 2x if you spend another $5,000 exactly. Definitely good offers for on going spend if you can hit those $5,000/$10,000 spend requirements by 10/15/18. Keep in mind American Express has been cracking down on manufactured spending/purchasing of gift cards & cash equivalents so be careful. Similar offer was also sent out on Business Platinum cards but it was slightly better (25,000 on first $5,000).
