The Offer
- American Express is offering some existing Business Platinum cardholders a spending bonus. Bonus is broken down as follows (spend needs to be completed by 10/15/18):
- Spend $5,000 and receive 25,000 Membership Rewards points
- Spend an additional $5,000 and receive an additional 10,000 Membership rewards points
The Fine Print
- The offer consists of two tiers (the two tiers, collectively, the “Offer”), each of which are subject to the terms and conditions described herein.
First Tier: Earn 25,000 Membership Rewards points after you use your enrolled Card to spend at least $5,000 (the “First Tier Spend Requirement”) on qualifying purchases* between the date you enrolled through 10/15/18 (the “Offer Period”); - Second Tier: Earn an additional 10,000 Membership Rewards points after you use your enrolled Card to spend at least an additional $5,000 (the “Second Tier Spend Requirement”) on qualifying purchases* during the Offer Period.
Our Verdict
First bonus is an extra 5x points on spend and the second bonus is an extra 2x points on spend assuming you spend $5,000/$10,000 exactly. Great deal for those who can hit those spend requirements by 10/15/18. American Express has been trying to crack down on manufactured spending, so I’d be careful purchasing things like gift cards and cash equivalents for this offer.
