The Offer
Direct link to offer (This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.). Says you need to be invited via e-mail to be eligible
- eBay is offering four $25 off $50 coupons when you buy an item on eBay live for $10+
Our Verdict
Shame that you need to be invited. I guess eBay has finally decided to compete with whatnot. I expect to see a lot more promotions like this if that is the case.
Thanks, worked for me. Did not get an email but saw a message about this coupon in my ebay feed. So not sure if I was targeted or not, but bought some random item for ~10 bucks and got the coupon a week later.
anyone did not receive the invitation email but bought $10 and got the coupon?
How long did it take to get the coupon? And does it work for $100 off 200+ or do you have to use it 25 at a time?
Read on SD that it worked for someone without an invite. Got a 15$ thermometer during the bullseye stream . hopefully it works
Should have done this. When they live stream they have a drop down list of hundreds of buy it now items and some are actually useful in the $10-$20 range.
What was that SD comment, though? The comments I’ve read indicate trouble receiving the coupon for those that saw the eBay banner but didn’t get an email invite.
Did it work?
Just got an offer for this today! Super excited. Gonna stack the discount with my eBay gift cards from C1S and 9% in rewards from C1S.
Just made a $26 purchase today on eBay live. I did end up overpaying somewhat on some silver, but maybe I’ll make it back in the market, I’ll make money back on the discounts regardless. Will update when I get the coupons
Just got the coupon today! Just so happens to be the same day my item was delivered. Took one week after purchase to receive the coupon code. Will write another comment with the coupon code after I’ve used it 4 times and will see if it’s the same code for everyone.
What’s the benefit of getting ebay gift cards through Capital One Shopping?
I just get a lot of rewards from Capital One Shopping. Over $1500 in the last year, eBay is the best redemption offer for me. Lets say I get $1500 back in rewards and redeem it for eBay gift cards. C1S lets me get rewards on items I also buy with those gift cards, I get between 6.5%-9% back on those gift cards again through Capital One Shopping which is $97.5-$135 back on gift cards I already had ($1500 in this example) and then I’ll get another 6.5-9% back on that $97.5-$135. The money never completely ends, it does go down though.
very intrigued by this and seems worth it if you can find something reasonably cheap on ebay live, but having to watch an auction seems painful.
It is time consuming. I had to spend a half hour before I found an auction worth it. Basically, you need to find an auction for comic books that has free shipping (because shipping is not included in the $10 minumum) and then one that starts at $10 and hope you are the only bidder. And basically that $10 is a cost to you, unless you actually need the comic book. I didn’t – I threw it straight in the garbage.
Thanks for sharing the feedback. I agree the live aspect is so painful to watch. It is slow, either lots of use of high reserve (or shill bidding), very random stuff and not compelling…
No wonder they have to give $100 off $200 (or more because you probably have to find a cart of more than $50) and they know most won’t be able to use it the 4 times in 90 days.
I find that eBay is actually not great for bidding anymore (maybe never was). I find it best for Make an Offer where someone has something they don’t need or to sell which you need (which I find is hard to use with the coupon in that flow). Fixed price items are often sold at higher prices than other store, and I do find that shipping add-on have exploded. There is no question that it is much more expensive to ship for the non-corporate package mailers, but this is probably why sites like Facebook Marketplace have done well where it is really all P2P with no shipping part. I am sure much of the stuff I buy from eBay the seller got for almost nothing. I see this often on the live too.
“The Coupon discount is capped at a maximum value of $100 off. Discount applies to the purchase price (excluding shipping, handling, and taxes) of eligible items purchased on ebay.com. Eligible items exclude warranties and protection plans, as well as items from the Coins & Paper Money, Gift Cards & Coupons, Car & Trucks, Motorcycles, Other Vehicles & Trailers, Boats, Powersports, Digital Gifts and Warranties & Insurance categories. The coupon can be used up to 4 transactions (and can include multiple eligible items), while supplies last. Coupon does not apply to auction-style listings when automatic payment processing is in effect.”
I pretty much only use eBay to bid and purchase heavily discounted gift cards so this is a pass for me.
Which brands of gift cards do you buy?
Have you ever been scammed?
I mainly purchase restaurant gift cards. Although, I have gotten PlayStation codes too. I have NEVER been scammed.
