The Offer
- Some people are reporting getting an offer from Grubhub for a free year of their Grubhub+ membership.
Our Verdict
You might see it after logging into the app or after placing an order. It might be only for those who recently had their Prime benefit of Grubhub+ expire or maybe it’s more broadly targeted than that.
Hat tip to SD
I just ended my Grubhub+ last month and my offer when I logged in was a year for $30.
Cancelled my Prime membership in January. I just got the $30 for 1 year offer as well.
for the 3 people not getting it free with amazon prime
I would think more than three people don’t have Amazon Prime.
Amazon Prime really doesn’t feel like a good value anymore, simply too expensive for what it offers.
$140/yr… but it comes with GH+ a $120/yr value! /s
The key is to actually use it for everything. Most people use it for shipping. I use it for Prime Savings discounts (if it’s some daily essential like lysol wipes or batteries I’m 10/10 buying the Amazon brand), Prime Reading (my city’s library isn’t funded whatsoever), Grubhub, Twitch sub, Prime Visa Amazon Photos and I’m gonna be activating Alexa+ when it’s out. My wife shares my membership through Amazon Household so 2x it.
This isn’t a flex to be clear, I’m aware I sound like a dork, I’m just saying it’s like using high AF credit cards and banking on the top one or two benefits – it doesn’t pan.
Sure I can definitely see use for it for specific people. But as a general rule it just seems like a bad value anymore. Most people can just wait a few days for their packages, either aren’t or shouldn’t be spending money on things like Twitch subs or Grubhub (though I’m occasionally guilty of the latter), etc. I actually have access to discounted Prime and I still don’t really think it’s worth it, if I really need it for something I can always buy a month of it.
There’s also other options now too. Like Walmart has same day shipping for a lot of items, has a video thing with paramount, and you have an option for groceries (Amazon fresh is pretty limited in its range). They also offer it half price fairly often, and it’s already cheaper than Prime to begin with.
It’s also nice to get free shipping on orders less than $35.
imagine believing paying money to a piece of shit corp so you can get your package a day earlier and watch some shitty content is a flex…
In fairness I don’t think they were calling it a flex, they were ostensibly saying the opposite by saying so many people have it
I’m one of the 3.
