The next best exchanges to sell to are between 87.3-88%Â (GiftCardZen, CardCash)
This would be a breakeven deal at best for sellling to most of these exchanges.
Our Verdict
I think this is just an okay deal since there is no Ebay Bucks promotion right now. My hope is we get a promotion in the next few days (possibly Sunday), according to Chuck’s schedule and this would be a good moneymaking opportunity. This deal may not last till then but at this rate it isn’t a worthwhile opportunity for me.
Thinking Outside the Box
One possible way to make this a moneymaker would be if you listed it via Raise.com if they still have their $10 promotion for listing when the gift cards arrive, which could take about a week. You would need to pay $1 shipping and 15% commision which would mean you are starting at a 84% sell rate before the discount you would list it at. There are currently no Chevron cards listed on Raise, so they may be a slow seller. If you follow my tips and list through the TopCashBack portal you would be able to make a little bit (if selling at a discount of up to 4% to breakeven) and have $270 spend on your credit card. I gave this idea simply as a way to show how thinking outside the box can help turn a breakeven or losing deal into a possible moneymaking opporuntity with a little bit of effort. This method is not for everyone.

I agree that the profit margin is too small to be an effective resale item. I bought some Ebay gift cards from Target using RB, and used those to buy these. All discounts factored in, I got this Chevron $100 gift card for about $77. Not too bad.

Having the same problem. Looks like gift card is applied and the balance is $0, but paypal amount still says $270. I chanced it and hit the ‘Purchase’ but it hit my paypal for $270. I don’t know if my gift card was also charged.
On the phone with Ebay and Paypal reps to sort it out. It’s a pain in the ass.
Yea I agree, without an eBay bucks offer, I’ll pass. With any gift card reselling deal there is the (small) risk of gc’s getting lost in the mail, and I’d rather not risk that for such a slim profit margin.
eBay is pretty good about favoring the buyer in disputes. If it got lost you’d be covered. I have a feeling SVM would just cancel out the cards that were sent and just send new ones
I was talking about gift cards getting lost en route to the reseller, not from eBay.

Between the GYFT and Target deals, I’m pretty heavy on ebay GCs right now and am tempted to bite on these even at breakeven. But obviously would prefer to get some bonus ebay Bucks too.

Probably not going to last – 85% sold in first ~30 hours and the bonus bucks offer won’t hit our email for another 12 hours at the earliest. I pulled the trigger and bought 3 myself just now.
Yeah, you are probably right. But I think about 6.5K sold by this morning and only 2K sold today, so pace is slowing down and might last until tmw morning. Of course, we don’t really even know if there will be Bonus Bucks tmw lol. I will check later tonight . . .
