American Airlines is offering a 20% transfer bonus when you transfer SPG points to American Airline miles. This is in addition to the bonus 5,000 miles you receive when you transfer 20,000 points or more.
- 20,000 Starpoints = 20,000 AAdvantage miles
- 5,000 Standard SPG bonus = 5,000 AAdvantage miles
- AAdvantage 20% mileage bonus = 5,000 AAdvantage miles
- Total = 30,000 AAdvantage miles

Our Verdict
You’ll need to transfer in blocks of 20,000 to get the best value out of this promotion, also keep in mind you’re limited to 79,999 in transfers per 24 hour period. I find SPG points way more valuable than American Airlines, but I know a lot of people think differently. They offered the same promotion last year and ended up extending it the end of August, since this one goes until mid September I doubt it will be extended.
