Sixt charged me 950 for a curbed wheel 88 dYs after return. It was after my csr coverage. I was passed got it dropped to 490 then had the partial dmg waiver amd convinced the poor csr the president of sixt told them to waive it since it was now under 500. Worked out but a hassle.

I always see people have problems with Sixt, but I’ve rented from them both in Europe and in the USA probably a total of 10 times and every time has been great, and far cheaper than the competition for the level of car. I think many people who have issues with them in Europe just aren’t used to the European rental model (you pay for every single stone chip in Germany and Austria basically, and you definitely need to document every tiny scratch when you pick up). In the USA I’m not sure what the problem is.

You need to spend a lot to be able to use this deal. I have a reservation for a 3-day rental in Miami in April and the total price I am paying is less than $160

Right. A $500 minimum on what is a discount car rental outfit in the USA is a stupid promo. At least do $50 off $250.

Got hosed by Sixt in Europe, very aggressive sales tactics and poor customer service. Messed up my cash back through a portal and never got credit.

Sixt sucks in the US, too.
They accidentally charged someone else’s rental to my card.
Not only it took them 3 weeks to refund the charge after making numerous customer service calls but also received the receipt of the total stranger including the full name and the other personal info printed on it.
Never again.
Delete your Sixt account and run as quickly as possible! They don’t care about their service as well as your privacy.

Man, spend $500 on a rental car…I think I just normally book with Big 4 Rental Car companies and the most Ive done is like $300/week. Unless you wanted to pick up hoes in your Convertible Mustang or something for two weeks, I cant see too much use for this.

depending on where you rent….local chains may be much cheaper (Like Turkey).

Why not? Planning a Turkey trip now. Local chains are much cheaper…by the looks of it. Many even come with full insurance. Finding on Kayak.

I’m actually planning a Turkey trip too. Local chains are cheaper but someone I know who’s been recommends staying with the big 4 over local chains.

Local chains are cheaper but I don’t want to risk anything either. Your thoughts? Have you been to Turkey before?

15 years ago or so. Never rented a car in Turkey. If you get a plan with full insurance, and minimal to zero excess, prob should be good to go. Stick to bigger Turkish Cos with multiple offices.

That’s one that shows up on Kayak.

Why did someone recommend the big 4? Who are the big 4 in Turkey? Europcar, Avis, Sixt, Enterprise? someone else?

I rented from a smaller MX company in Cabo recently…was with full insurance. Great service.
