This has been extended until February 28th, 2017. Thanks to VFTW. Unfortunately SPG is now excluded.
The Offer
- Receive a 30% transfer bonus when you transfer hotel points from one of the participating 15 hotel programs to Cathay Pacific’s Asia Miles program.
The Fine Print
- The “Convert Hotel Points and Get 30% More Miles Promotion ” (the “Promotion”) is valid from 1 December 2016 (starting from 00:00 GMT+8) to 31 December 31 2016 (until 23:59 GMT+8), based on points conversion date, both dates inclusive (“Promotion Period”).
- The Promotion is applicable to all eligible Asia Miles members who successfully converted their hotel points from the 15 participating hotel loyalty programmes into miles during the Promotion Period. The 30% bonus miles will be counted based on their total miles converted from hotel points. For example, a member who converted 10,000 Asia Miles from hotel A loyalty programme and converted 10,000 Asia Miles from hotel B loyalty programme will get a bonus of 6,000 Asia Miles from this promotion.

Our Verdict
There are really only two hotel loyalty programs you’d want to consider transfering from:
SPG transfers at a rate of 1:1, in addition if you transfer in increments of 20,000 you get an additional 5,000 Asia miles. This means that transferring 20,000 SPG points will result in 32,500 Asia miles.- Marriott offers Flight + Hotel packages, for 270,000 points you normally get 85,000 miles (now 110,500) and seven nights at category 1-5 property. Still not a great deal because this is in the second category that offers lower total miles.
Cathay Pacific does charge fuel surcharges on most flights but they aren’t super excessive like some carriers.
Hat tip to Point Me To The PlaneÂ
Dammit, I was hoping to take advantage of this Phase 2 promo with SPG. I wonder those that attempted to transfer via SPG early were granted the 30% bonus or were they denied since Asia Miles doesn’t credit the 30% until much later into the promo.
Wrong…It dosn’t include SPG!!! please check the page carefully and it shows “not applicable” under Starwood.
Thanks, it did before and now it doesn’t.
Thanks.
When I got to that link, it says “Starwood Excluded from Phase 2.” The Fine print indicates we’re now in phase 2.
Thanks, updated post.
