[Expired] Amazon: Hotels.com $50 Giftcard For $40 – Now Live

Our Verdict

These usually sell out quickly and I suspect they will sell out even quicker given the American Express offer for 2,000 points for spending $50 at Amazon (you need to spend $50 cumulatively so can purchase this and then something for $10 later). You can find out how to save even more on Amazon by reading this post. You can read my strategy for Hotels.com here.

Will,

This might be a stupid question, but are points earned through JetBlue if you use an Amazon GC to pay for your purchase?

Yes, JetBlue would be the “better offer”. But this one is Now Live, LOL. If you missed it 20% off is available all day long via AMEX offers. SMH.

I think you misunderstood what I was asking.

If I purchase the Hotels.com GC via my JetBlue link, and then pay for the Hotels.com GC with an Amazon GC credit, will I earn 3x/$1 for JetBlue? Or does the portal only work for cash purchases?

Your comment has me confused, what offer of JetBlue are you saying is the “better offer?” I purchased the GC for the record, been accumulating them as the sales come as I don’t know anywhere else to get 20% off. I’ve only ever had one Amex offer for it.

No, I understood. The better offer is the JetBlue link. It earns 3x/$1 no matter what method you use to pay IME. It won’t earn points when you buy Amazon GCs, but will earn points when you use Amazon GCs.

HikerT was referring to the Hotels.com Amex Offer not the Amazon Amex Offer (which I am assuming you were thinking of). Saf never mentioned an Amex Offer.

HikerT was saying if this offer was missed (since it’s expired now) Saf could still get 20% off with the Hotels.com Amex Offer.

Actually no, it didn’t stack with the 2K MR AMEX offer. You need to spend $50 for that one, not to mention opportunity cost 101 says don’t count it unless this is the only thing you plan to buy on amazon. I would agree that buying a $50 Hotels.com card for $40 on Amazon might be a better deal than the 20% off AMEX offer *if* you stack JetBlue 3x. Which was my point. Why not highlight JetBlue 3x in the blog post? Instead it’s buried in a go fishing link. But at least you get some credit for the go fishing link. I thought it was funny FM hat tipped you, added their affiliae link, and made no mention of JetBlue 3x either.

When are they going to fix combining gift cards? Getting kind of annoying to call-in with 10+ gift cards lol

Sales starts at 8:45pm EASTERN, not Pacific.

I had the same issue. Called and solved the problem. It is worth to note that they could not combine balances from a physical card and an electronic card. Found it out the hard way.

Is anyone else having a problem checking gift card balances and transferring balances on the hotels.com website. I have been trying this past weekend/today and always got an error message

Call the customer service number, they are actually pretty good and can do it over the phone.
