Get 2,000 Amex Points with $50 Amazon Purchase with this Targeted Amex Offer!

The Offer

Check your Amex logins for the following targeted offer:

  • Get 2,000 Membership Rewards points when spending $50 on

The Fine Print

  • Valid through 12/31/17
  • Must enroll first; you can enroll until 12/31/17
  • $50 spend can be done in one purchase or cumulative
  • Limit 1 enrolled card per Amex online account (typically, it works on multiple cards in the same login if you save it using the multi-tab trick)

Our Verdict

This offer is only being found on Membership Reward-earning cards, check those cards and AUs to see if you got it. No luck for me 🙁

This is obviously an incredible offer. Most people value MR points somewhere between 1 – 2 cents per points, making this deal a 40-80% discount on Amazon. Even better is that the offer can be used to purchase an Amazon gift card for the future or hundreds of different brands of third-party gift cards sold on Amazon. You can save even more on your Amazon shopping by using our tips in this guide.

There is lots of time to make use of these offers until the end of the year, so after saving it there isn’t much reason to hurry. If you don’t mind Amazon gift cards (e.g. you don’t need credit card protections), easiest is probably to do $50 Amazon reloads or buy $50 Amazon e-gift cards and be done with it. Otherwise, you can use the offers up over the next 7 months.

We appreciate when readers use our Amazon affiliate links for their Amazon shopping. I’ll link in various links which can be used to support the site.

Got it on 1 out of 3! On my Gold card.

  2. TD says:

I got it on my personal plat. Just checked, that’s a pretty sweet deal.

  3. Carlvin says:

    49 of 125, nice deal!

  4. Jake says:

Checked my 4 MR-earning cards, no dice yet!

  5. ktenorman says:

    Nothing for me on EDP.

  6. Jordan says:

0-3 MR cards, no SPG personal or business and No delta. Dangit.

    • Eddy Cue says:

The offer is very likely only on MR earning cards hence the “Get 2,000 Amex Points with $50 Amazon Purchase”.

  7. Jake N says:

Got it on Benz Plat, PRG and EveryDay. Not Biz Plat or BRG. 0/2 on AUs.

  8. hiima says:

One thing to maybe add. Only Personal MR cards, unless otherwise proven.

  9. Joe says:

0/3 on personal. Plat, PRG, and Green

  10. TY says:

Just a FYI for people with this offer on multiple MR earning cards linked to the same account – you should still only use it one time!

If this works the same as the previous bonus MR offers, only one bonus per MR account will post. This is true even if you have two different MR credit cards, eg Amex Plat and Amex Everyday card. Also, AU cards won’t get you anything additional.

I found this out with the Marriott offers last year. For a few days, bonus MR points for a $200 marriott purchase and the $100 courtyard by Marriott purchase were both active. The $100 offer was only 1x/account, and the $200 offer was up to 2x/account. I purchased 2 x $200 gc at a courtyard by Marriott, one using my Amex Plat, and one with my Amex Optima card. I only got the points for 1 $100 courtyard offer. I did get the points for two $200 marriott offers.

    • Tim says:

This is unequivocally wrong and been proven otherwise with pretty much every promo

    • JoJo says:

TY, I think this is common, I never got able to have multiple Amex offer post correctly by trigger at same time, I always wait until one is fully post to make another transaction.

      • TY says:

JoJo, Thanks for the info! With the cash back rebate offers, you can make back-to-back purchases, and it posts fine, so I thought the amex MR offers would work the same way.

On another note, does this mean that Amex won’t have another amazon offer around the holidays this year?

  11. P says:

0/4. Last good Amex offer that appeared on my cards was the Petco one. Amex has been stingy to me.

  24. Matt says:

    5/5 on my MR cards.

  25. Vic says:

  26. Ben says:

    0 for 3 🙁

  27. Carl says:

Got this offer on two cards (yay!) Used them both last night. 2 orders, using 1 card each. Meeting, as far as I can tell, all the requirements. But as of yet, I have not received the usual e-mail from Amex saying that I had used my offer. I know I did everything hunky-dorky, but I did go to Amazon via the JetBlue portal. Would that have messed me up?

The card pages (I have separate online accounts for each card) does not show the offer as used, either. Please advise as if I need to, as of now I can still cancel some of the orders and re-order without using the JetBlue link.

If anyone has insight, please reply as I have email set for replies. I’d love some advice on this!

  28. Johnny Tran says:

@Carl, I did exactly the same thing as you did. Going thru the JB portal should not negate the eligibility because I did carefully read the terms and conditions of this offer.
What makes the plot thicken is that this morning the offer is no longer even found in my online account, neither in the Added tab nor the Savings tab, when clearly did add the offer.
I’m going to have to call up CS.

  29. SPC says:

    Same situation here, Johnny Tran

  30. Sam says:

Added the offer yesterday, received “congratulations” email, Amazon posted the charge right away/same day. Went to check if the points were added, but no points on no saved offer anymore (double-checked before buying-the offer was saved).
What could go wrong? Why the offer is not listed? Usually, it is either active or has Redeemed status

  31. Sam says:

No points posted after “congratulation” email, and the added offer is gone from the list.

  32. Harold says:

Purchase made on June 6. Offer disappeared from list the next day. 2,000 points were credited on June 9.

  33. charles says:

Pretty sure I added to both my green and plat cards. Used the plat and it disappeared from the green. Was only able to get for one card. Sweet offer though, thanks Chuck.

  34. ajpl says:

Anyone know of a Twitter hashtag for this offer?

  35. Tom says:

Three separate MR cards with offer. (PRG, ED, ED au)
Reloaded $50 on amazon gc with each on different days.
All three posted the 2000 MR points three or four days later.

  36. Superchurn says:

Thanks for the AU reminder! Wife had it on her PRG AU card, as well as a $10 off $200 on Amex Gift cards.

I had totally forgotten about her AU PRG card.

  37. Dan says:

What is an “AU” and why does everyone have so many AmEx cards? I don’t have any of those cards.. so confused right now.

  38. Skyriver says:

I think Amex may be doing the slow-roll-out thing again. None of my cards had the offer when it first came out, but it shows up on an AU card today (or a couple of days again, but definitely not 06/04/17)

  39. Kenneth Wong says:

Does this apply to items sold by third-party sellers and not by Amazon?
