American Express Extends Lowe’s Co-branded Credit Card Partnership

American Express has announced an extension to their Lowe’s credit card co-branded credit cared partnership. The card will retain the same rewards & fees structure as before:

  • 5% off every day from Lowe’s on eligible Lowe’s purchases.
  • 3X points per dollar at U.S. restaurants, U.S. office supply stores and on wireless telephone services purchased directly from U.S. service providers;
  • 2X points per dollar on Lowe’s purchases; and
  • 1X points on other purchases.
  • No annual fee

American Express didn’t provide any additional details about how long the credit card partnership was extended for. I’ve never found the American Express Lowe’s card terribly exciting due to the lack of sign up bonus, but I’m sure they will be glad to retain this co-branded partner after the loss of Costco.

Does anyone know how the 5% off with lowes credit card works? does it get applied like an additional discount code on your order, or is it 5% back on lowes purchase total on your credit card statement? im wondering if its possible to pay for the majority of the order (says $195/$200 with discounted giftcards) and then pay the small remainder of the order $5/$200 with the lowes credit card to trigger 5% off on the whole $200 amount. or maybe your mylowes account just gets coded for 5% off if you have the credit card (similar to how the military discount is coded). i know this seems illogical, but there was a similar loophole with target for a while, so if anyone knows the answer, i would appreciate it. I see will indicates it doesnt stack with military discount, which is a bummer, and if that’s the case, the answer doesnt really matter too much

How does discount work? I get 10% off coupons pretty easily, assume 5% doesn’t apply after 10 coupon is applied? Always assumed their cc was useless because of this.

Where do you get the 10% off lowes coupons, that website (I forget the name) got shut down right?

Ebay has a ton of folks selling them. A quick search will find them.

Is this just a Lowe’s credit card or a Visa/MC/AMEX car that can be used elsewhere? I thought it’s just 5% off. But you are showing 3x points at restaurants, office supply and wireless services. And 2x points at Lowes? Is this a different card then the 5% off?
And if these are points what can they be used for?

This is a full-scale AmEx Open business credit card. It probably gets all AmEx offers/benefits, OPEN benefits, etc.

You can redeem the points as $25 Lowe GC for 2500 pts, or $25 AmEx GC for 3500. The 5% off and the 2x point probably stacks (would not make sense otherwise), so it’s a total of 6.9% off at Lowe. If you frequent there, it’s as good as a card can get, otherwise it’s useless.

(The Target card is comparable: that’s the best card for Target, useless everywhere else.)

Will,

How much are the points worth? I presume they aren’t MR.
