The Fine Print

  • Valid for the personal & business Platinum card and Corporate Platinum cardholders
  • Must have enrolled in Complimentary Hilton gold status
  • Check out must be on or before August 7th, 2017
  • Offer valid for stays at any property in the Hilton portfolio excluding Hampton by Hilton, Hotels in mainland China

Our Verdict

Ok so stacking this deal is really key. Two AmEx offers:

  • $45 back when you spend $225 on more at Embassy Suites or Homewood Suites or
  • $35 back on $175 or more on Hamptons or Hilton Graden Inn

Also these other promotions from Hilton:

  • Go More (double points or triple if you’re Diamond) through August 31st, 2017

Personally don’t find Hilton points that valuable, but completing a two night stay isn’t that difficult so will keep this on my radar.

Two data points.

1. Paid for my recent stay with 5 different AMEX cards including Platinum (took advantage of the HGI spend $175 get $35 back). Bonus 7500 points posted.

2. Wife paid for entire stay on her AMEX SPG card (meeting spend requirement) – 7500 bonus points posted.

Do advance purchase rates work with this promotion?

Also, in the past, has anyone ever seen whether the AMEX offers work with advance purchase rates? I know the terms state they are not eligible but still curious if it goes through. Gift cards are also ineligible but they trigger the offer when purchased directly at a hotel.

I don’t see anything that would exclude nights paid with points.

It states that you must be making a ‘qualified stay.’ Later the terms state: “Offer valid one-time only and only when you pay with your American Express Card.”

I just stayed 2 nights on points at a Hampton Inn and received the 7,500 points. My Surpass was associated with the stay, though it was not charged anything.

I’m seeing this on my Amex offers section but when I click on it.

“Oops!
Looks like you aren’t eligible for this particular offer, but we have plenty more where that came from. Check out My Offers Tracker to see all your latest offers. And of course if you have any questions, give us a call.”
