BBVA NBA: Spend $250 On Gas & Groceries & Receive 5,000 Points ($50 Statement Credit) + 5% Cash Back On All Purchases (June 4th – June 18th)

According to one reader, you don’t need to have received this e-mail to receive the bonus. They didn’t receive the e-mail and still got the bonus points.

The Offer

If you’re a BBVA NBA Cardholder, you should have received an e-mail about the following promotion (pretty sure it’s not targeted, but if it is please let me know in the comments):

  • Spend $250 or more at gas stations and supermarkets with your BBVA NBA credit card and receive a 5,000 bonus points (worth $50 in statement credit)
  • In addition to this between June 4th and June 18th, you’ll also receive 5x points on all purchases without a spending cap

fast break bonus promotion

The Fine Print

  • Promotion period is June 4th till June 18th

Our Verdict

Earning 5x points on all purchases was already a great deal, but you get an additional $50 on $250 in spending is even better. If you just spent $250, you’d earn a total of $62.5 in cash back – although I suspect a lot of you will be spending a lot more than that.

It’s also interesting that they say this is the first of their fast break promotions, I assume this refers to the $50 bonus and that they will be offering more of these in the future. Personally I think you’d be pretty stupid not to pick up the card at this stage, it currently comes with a sign up bonus of 10,000 points ($100) and comes with no annual fee for life. This is important because it’s an American Express card which can be used for Sync deals and small business Saturday. The fact that it also earns 5x on all purchases during two different periods each year (all star weekend and NBA finals) is also incredible, something which I can’t see lasting. You can read my full review of the card here.

This offer is so good that other companies have even starting promoting the use of the card with their own offer, Simply Best Coupons will offer 2% cash back during the 5% promotion period and specifically mentioned this.

BBVA CSR said 5% promo ends whenever the NBA final ends, which could be before 6/18.

If I sign up for the credit card today, there’s basically little chance I will get the physical card before the end of this promonperiod right?

The last article said TransUnion, but my friend and I both got Experian. We’re in California.

couple of questions
1)
Does this card come with fraud protection ? Dont see it as part of benifits ?

2)
At the page https://www.doctorofcredit.com/amex-offer-credit-not-posting-what-to-do/

I see following
For bank-branded Amex cards (such as Fidelity Amex or US Bank Flexperks Amex) as well as for Bluebird/Serve cards: Contact @AskAmex on Twitter. You can tweet something like: “@askamex my amex offer for exxon didn’t post. 90 days already past. can you help?” They’ll tell you to log into your regular Amex account in order to verify your identity

Does this mean I will be able to register the nba card at americanexpress.com ?

I didn’t get the email. I just Called BBVA about this promotion. They didn’t know anything about this, but said that all card holders are automatically signed up for any promotion. Take it for what it’s worth.

As always, BBVA reps are less knowledgeable than the capital one reps..

Does anyone know if you earn the 5% on a Serve load too? Seems TGTBT!
