JonNYC on travelingbetter.com let us know that American Airline representatives were being trained on changes coming to their loyalty program in 2016. Here is a summary of those changes:
- No changes to redemption options
- No minimum spend requirement for elite status
- No $-based elite earning
- No changes to elite levels
- No changes to segment qualification
- SWUs for EP cut to 4 but with definitely possibility/mechanism to earn more
- SWUs for CK boosted to 4 with definitely possibility/mechanism to earn more
I’m pretty happy with these changes, I don’t care a lot about elite status so the fact that redemption options and value are not changing is a very big positive indeed. I’d recommend reading the thread on travelingbetter as I presume it’ll be update as Jon learns more about the changes.
