- Money Meta Game is a new blog I’ve been enjoying which I think you should give a read. In particular these posts are great:
- Southwest Airlines May Replace Chase for Credit Cards Program — Exclusive by The Street via Miles 4 More. Not really that surprising, whenever a contract is up for renewal it’s always prudent to research what other offers would be available if the contract was not renewed. Would have been a more interesting article if they told us when the Chase Southwest partnership was due to expire and a few other prudent details (who else are they talking to? How far along that process are they? What’s the general feeling internally?)
- Costco to Pay Almost Zero to Accept Credit Cards by Bloomberg via reader Trevor. It’s no wonder American Express wanted out of this deal, 0% processing fees means they would have been losing a lot of money on all Costco transactions. It looks like Citi and Visa are hoping to make up for this with fees (interest, late fees etc) and also transactions outside of Costco. Assuming they offer a card with 3% cash back at Costco stores they’d be losing 3% per transaction. Our review of the new Visa card can now be read here.
- Don’t Lose Your Credit Card Signup Bonus by Lazy Travelers. Always meet your minimum spend requirements as early as possible, do not leave it to the last minute. I cannot stress how important this is, as Andy talks about problems always pop up so make sure your on top of it.
- Hilton HHonors No Longer A Transfer Partner in Canada by Points Hogger. Still a partner in the US and other countries (e.g the UK), transferring membership rewards points to Hilton is a terrible idea anyway but interesting none the less.
- Issues at Smart & Final with the Amex Offer and Why I Would Suggest Going Sooner Rather Than Later by Miles to Memories. This isn’t going to last, so do it sooner rather than later. I can’t believe I’m missing out on this offer at the moment but worst case scenario I’ll just buy an absurd amount of groceries for friends and family.
- The New York Times Says This Dumb Sandwich is Perfect for Airplanes by Fly & Dine. I don’t think this is a dumb sandwich, but you should be using roasted red peppers that have been marinated (light vinegar and peppercorns for my mind) and also it needs a lot more vegetables in it as well. I’d throw in some eggplant, maybe some onion as well. Plus whatever else is in the fridge. I usually just buy a cheap one from near my house before my flight.
I didn’t have any idea there was a “dumb” sandwich. Live and learn. Oh, and thanks for the mention!
