Our Verdict
eBay smartened up about allowing these coupons to work on gift cards by adding a filler item for free. They’ve now coded the coupon to take 20% off any non-gift card items. So while you can use gift cards to get you to the $50 threshold, you’ll still only get the 20% discount on non-gift card items.
For example, I bought a $200 Lowe’s gift card and $9.40 on two packages of Forever stamps, and the system only gave me a discount of $1.88 on the Forever stamps (20%).

You know what is so crazy about that…I looked, wanted to pick up some new msu basketball shorts yesterday. I could not find any that were less than 65 bucks. Decided to get irwin clamps instead :(. Go Green!

I ordered 3 pack of “Tide Pods Original Scent Laundry Detergent Pacs 72 ct” and paid with ebay gift card I bought earlier. Not a bad deal.
so how many of you guys dont even visit the ebay site anymore? haha. I mean why does PayPal bother with the ebay GC limits? after the ebay GC shut down, the limits wont even be touched. I guess you could buy a lot of stuff for resale…
you know what else is funny? the FLOOD of ebay GCs now totally stocked up in every retail location imaginable cuz nobody is buying it anymore… haha…
My thoughts exactly. Any chance ebay reverses decision on use of ebay gifts for third party gift cards? They get their fees on the sale anyway.
i think in long run eBay will shrink significantly… we tried to help them with our gift card purchases but they decided suicide is a better option.
Once I burn through the rest of my eBay gift cards buying odds and ends, I think the only thing I’ll ever use eBay for again is slightly discounted gas gift cards.
I know, and I can’t even do that! My mailman steals all my gas cards. The Postal Inspector is actually investigating. I’ve had 4 stolen so far. Combined with ebay bucks and Ink it was a great deal.
This explains why even ebay cards were on 3% off sale with a coupon on raise.com. This was never the case as far as I remember for coupons that applied to only a subset of cards.
