Well.. Not sure what to do at this point. But they just refunded my account for the cards..

Sephora GCs still live.. I assume they can’t revoke, so I suppose sephora shopping spree in a week or so..

What do you guys think?

I’m tired of waiting. Messaged them again Dec 3, no response. Friday will have been *two weeks* since purchase. If they can’t correct by then, my wife gets a shopping spree at Sephora. In good faith, I gave them a long amount of time to correct this.

Am I correct that you paid $200 but instead of sending you 4 $60 Gamestop they sent you 4 $110 Sephora?

Part of me is happy that I didn’t do that deal as I wouldn’t feel right using/selling the Sephora gc if I didn’t pay for them. Part of me is unhappy as it appears some of you guys made some decent money. Are you going to ask for a refund too?

FYI.. Assume this is what happened to all of you too.

Got a refund, and they then voided all the Sephora cards..

Feel a little annoyed with all the effort and frustration for a refund..

Not sure what would have happened if I had just spent them, but figured it wasn’t worth the risk of the Paypal account.. who knows..

Did they give you the option of simply keeping the Sephora (and not getting a refund)? If so, wouldn’t you have made more selling them?

Thanks for chiming in, Chuck. I guess if you don’t want to risk the relationship with paypal, there’s nothing to do but wait. Still, frustrating, though. When I checked yesterday, the Sephora cards were still active.

December 4, 2015 12:36

Yep, me too.. Nothing. I decided to put in a message that says I didn’t get cards but would like to receive them. At least that should start the process, says 5 days they have to respond. Did that 2 days ago, nothing. It’s a bit crazy. If no response by 8th apparently I can dispute it.

Though I’m not sure how Ebay would resolve a dispute with Paypal when Paypal is the one to credit the dispute payment?? I suspect Paypal would just eat it, they’re big boys and this isn’t that big of a mistake relative to their size. If it was 1000 cards @ $110 = $110,000. It’s a lot of money but not a blip on their balance sheet.

And like all of you I value my paypal relationship so I don’t know what the appropriate step is here. If it were anyone else I’d have gone crazy at sephora, sold a bunch of makeup on ebay and be done with this.

I messaged them again yesterday and just received this right now, 10:19am EST 11/30:

“We are aware of the issue and very sorry that the system sent you the wrong code. Our engineers are in the process of voiding the Sephora codes and resending the correct Gamestop codes. We expect this to take place within the next 12 to 24 hours. If you are unable to wait this amount of time please feel free to submit a refund request and we will approve promptly and issue a full refund.”

i still have nothing from them.. I almost want to cancel, but then I get nothing for all the annoyance..

And I wonder how many people just spent the Sephora. I didn’t but I’m sure several did this weekend. If it were something good other than Sephora, can’t say it wouldn’t have crossed my mind. They are live cards..

Then what do they do I wonder..

I considered it too, but wouldn’t want to do anything to jeopardize my relationship with PPDG. I’m 99% sure they couldn’t do anything, but I resell alot of cards from them and don’t want to lose that avenue for MSing.

Let me just say, “me too.” PPDG should give us something for not blowing the whole $440 at Sephora…It’s kind of annoying. I know I’m asking to be rewarded for doing what I ought to do anyway, but come on…I honestly think that our everyday ethical principles don’t necessarily apply to interactions with faceless corporations under capitalism.

I just checked the Gamestop and it’s going very slowly now. Has there ever been a bonus bucks on a weekend? If so, I’m considering waiting until tomorrow to buy.

So I had same thing happen. I was wondering if anyone ordered sephora. What are the odds they sent them the gamestop codes?

I could totally see human error in some batch process. Assign card and send emails to 2 groups and theyou simple flipped them.

That said wonder how they unwind this. I didn’t bother emailing I figure they’ll figure it out and fix. If I don’t hear something tommorow I’ll email them.

Matt. Same thing happened to me w the sephora instead of gamestop. I ve only been on the ebay gc resell gig for about a month. I don t know how ppdg will deal with this since the sephora codes are live.

Just got a message from them via ebay that says:

“Thank you for contacting us. We want you to have a positive buying experience and thank you for being a customer. We have received your message and are working on a resolution. Thank you for your patience as we work to get back to you shortly.”

I don’t think they know what they’re going to do either! If they don’t have this resolved for Monday, I may just have to go hog wild at Sephora 😛

Does anyone know if there are any other stores besides Gamestop, Best Buy and Ebay that let you buy other gc with store gc?

Hi Eric,

Sears (YMMV), Walmart, Target to name a few more – here’s a good article if the link goes through:

I only read the first page so far. It doesn’t seem to be accurate. I’ve been told that Staples doesn’t allow this but it’s shown here. I am stunned that Walmart allows it.

The thing is that there’s never consistency…I’ve read reports that people have been lucky (at a store, b/c there’s no way to do it online) and able to buy other gift cards with staples gift cards, even though the terms and conditions clearly forbid that.

Similarly, Sears/Kmart gift cards say: “Not valid for purchase of third party debit or prepaid cards,” but I’ve been successful at Sears, while others have been turned away. On the other hand, people have been turned away from Best Buy when attempting to buy a third party gift card, when the terms only forbid purchase of open loop (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) gift cards.

As far as Walmart is concerned, yeah, it’s nice that they let you buy other gift cards with their own gift cards, but the selection is pretty slim b/c they primarily carry restaurant and online services (google play, itunes, xbox, netflix gift cards) at least in my area. Since they compete with so many retailers, you won’t find Amazon, eBay, Gamestop, Best Buy, heck mine does not even carry gas gift cards (maybe b/c of the partnership with Murphy USA) – so they are not very useful for reselling purposes. BTW, they don’t let you buy open loop gift cards with a gift card (or credit card for that matter)

The Fatwallet article might not be 100% accurate b/c of how old it is and also depicts individuals’ experiences which might not be the same across the board, but at least gives you a starting point. This is a game of trial and error 😉

Is Toys R Us a sure thing that they allow it? I just received my 2 $100 gc today. Did you buy this? If so, are you going to keep or sell it?

Hi Eric,

I actually did not get a chance to take advantage of that deal – Craig commented: “Or you can use the card to buy an ebay gift card at toys r us and start the cycle again” here – “$100 Toys R Us for $85 on eBay,” so it might be possible, however YMMV.

The article has a report of someone being able to buy eBay/Home Depot gift cards on 7/29/15, but it seems that the POS displays a message to the clerk advising that GC cannot be used to pay GC.

If I were you, I’d try it! The worst they can say is ‘No’

Yup – same here. FOUR 110 Sephora GC. Called this number: 1-877-569-1148 and they said they are aware of this issue and will get back to us in 3 DAYS!!!!

They say we have to suffer – BASTARDS!

So…I purchased 4 of the gamestop deal earlier today. PPDG just emailed me 4 x $110 Sephora credit instead. Lol. Has this ever happened to anyone before….?

(And yes, i re-checked my invoice to be sure i didn’t accidentally buy the wrong thing)
