IHG have announced a new Fuel Rewards savings program, users will be able to save up to 7¢ per gallon at Shell stations. The discount you receive will depend on your loyalty tier and is as follows:
- 5 cents per gallon everyday savings for Club and Gold Elite members
- 6 cents per gallon everyday savings for Platinum Elite members
- 7 cents per gallon everyday savings for Spire Elite
To participate you need to do the following:
- Sign up or log into your Fuel Rewards account
- Link your IHG account
- Put in your details when purchasing fuel/swipe your card
Most people will have Platinum Elite status from the Chase IHG card, so that’s a discount of 6¢ per gallon. Make sure you also use a credit card that earns at a high rate on gas purchases.

The discount will not show in the app but in the pump it will.
When you get your receipt it will tell you that you earn and redeemed a 6c off a gallon promotion. HOWEVER this is not on top of the 5c off you get everyday just by having the fuelrewards card so it is only 1 additional cent which sucks!!

Where do you see 5 cents off? The website says "Fuel Rewards® members can always save 3¢/gal when filling up at participating locations."
Still not showing my $0.05 bonus from connecting my IHG account #. It’s been a little over a week now. Anybody else having issues?

I’m not seeing any extra Fuel Rewards after connecting my IHG account. I already had $.05 existing from other things (filling up a tank through the TMobile Tuesday deal, which after initial discount yields $.05 after fill up). I had $.05 already … linked my IHG account … two days later still just showing $.05. Maybe I did something wrong? I’ve been using FR for about 6 months and can confirm that typically any bonus that I’m supposed to get shows up within a day, or two, at most.
It worked when I tried it, but I only got 5 cents off even though I’m Platinum Elite.
I usually use gasbuddy to find the cheapest price in the area, which is usually Arco. Unfortunately, Arco doesn’t accept credit card here. So I end-up buying Arco gift cards from Safeway (6% discount on using Amex Blue Pref) and then use it at the gas station. Have been the cheapest gas in my experience (don’t have Costco experience as their pumps are out of my usual route).
I’m also confused where I’m supposed to enter my IHG account number. Since not ever IHG member has a related IHG credit card, I’m assuming it’s not under “add a card.” The next closest option is “add loyalty card” but an IHG account number isn’t exactly a loyalty card – at least the FR app didn’t want to accept my IHG acct number as one.
OK – looks like you pretty much have to do it from a computer browser – not from a mobile browser OR the app.
Well at least we have Costco. 60c cheaper per gallon
Where can you get 60c cheaper per gallon from Costco? I probably can get only 5c cheaper here. It would be better discount to shop at Kroger, Shell or other gas stations when using the right credit card. The other way is getting double dip discount gas gift cards from Ebay.
I’m in Hawaii. Costco is about $2.69 whereas shell is $3.28
