- Delayed Response => Lawsuit Fun! by Wandering Aramean. Little bit more background on why the GoGo/American Airlines thing went public.
- AmEx Overhauls Management in $1 Billion Cost-Cutting Effort by Bloomberg. Most interesting part for my mind was this: Quarterly results will be uneven and expenses are expected to rise as the company spends money to attract new customers. Maybe I’m just being optimistic, but let’s hope that translates into some big offers.
- The Case for Mileage Running by DEM Flyers. Mileage running is definitely not for me, but it can work for some people in some cases.
- More Levels May Be Coming to the Top of American AAdvantage, “Segmentation is the Word” by View From The Wing. Will be interesting to see what their low fare product will look like.
- Why That Airline Didn’t Hold Your Connecting Flight For You by Cranky Flier. Interesting look at why airlines will and won’t hold a connecting flight.
- Breakdown Of Amazon Return Fees by Oren’s Money Saver. Nothing worse than that dread return e-mail.
- Breaking: Plastc Card Delayed Further. The Future of Credit Cards Will Have to Wait Longer! by Miles to Memories. The delays on these all in one cards are astounding. I honestly think mobile payments will win this battle and these cards are five years late to market.
- Road to North Korea Photography by m1key. Amazing pictures, I just hope nobody is sent to a death camp because of them. I’d love to go to North Korea at some point and it’s something I’ve contemplated every year for awhile now. I always decide against it for a variety of different reasons, but one day I hope to be able to make it there.
Amex is cracking down on things the layman in this game probably never heard of and wouldn’t dream of. They have a review and enforcement team for these abuses now, in a way they never had before. For the heavy hitters, this is very bad news that even a 500k signup offer can’t come close to alleviating.
I also want to visit North Korea for some years now. The only way and probably also the best way in is to join a chinese tourist group and enter from China’s side……
While it’s a long shot, I’m hoping the increase in marketing costs for Amex translates into the return of portal cash back on higher denominations.
