- Why Am I Looking Back At My 2016 Predictions Now? Well, I’ve Got Some News… by Travel Codex. I’m sad to hear that Julian won’t be doing any more Devil’s Advocate columns (at least in it’s current format at Travel Codex) or Bet You Didn’t Know (in it’s current format at Frequent Miler). Best of luck with the move to TPG! I’ll be interested to see how the content does/doesn’t change.
- Need to Expedite a New AMEX Card? Add Yourself as an Authorized User / Employee by Travel With Grant. Legitimately one of the stupidest things I have ever read (American Express’ rule, not Grant’s post). American Express has got to understand how stupid that policy is right? Also added this to our post on expedited shipping.
- Uber & American Express are offering $12 off an Uber ride in Seattle with lots of fine print. Click the link for more info, only covers specific times.
- Spend $500 or more on your Paypal Extras Mastercard and receive 6,000 points. Targeted offer, subject line is “e’ve Got 6,000 Points With Your Name on Them”. Thanks to Travel With Grant & reader Mark C.
TPG? Seriously. Guess I won’t be reading much from Julian outside of twitter any longer. TPG is like reading a credit card application form.
Amex wouldn’t even let me add myself as an AU w/o the card number…

second follow-up! also, I’m not sure that Travel with Grant is 100% on the nose here (specifically about this being with respect to business cards). I’ve seen many people (incl. me) have no luck getting personal cards expedited.
I’ve successfully had one (1) AmEx CC expedited after approval (HHonors Surpass), which a very kind customer care professional offered to do for me over chat when I was checking on my HHonors application (second CC app on same day, so automatically set to pending for 5 days then evaluated by AmEx).
However, my luck with charge cards has been abysmal! I tried to expedite a PRG after it had been approved and went ’round and ’round with AmEx over the course of hours without getting it successfully expedited. I was variously told that they couldn’t expedite it for fraud reasons (which is not true) and that they couldn’t expedite the card because it had been automatically approved (maybe true, it locks out their new account dep’t from modifying it once it’s been approved apparently).
Other DPs on r/churning indicate that people have not been able to successfully get other charge cards expedited.
