Recap: MasterCard Installment Program, IHG Fraud, Hilton Tru, Change Fee, M Life Platinum

  • A Worthwhile $5.60 Change Fee (Trip Report) by Cranky Flier. If I have the option of choosing one ways, I always take that option. Save me a lot of money over the years in change fees and missed flights.
  • Hilton announces new affordable hotel brand, Tru by USA Today. If prices are in the $90-$100 range as they claim, hopefully these means a lot of them will be in the lower award tiers for Hilton. Anything category 3 or lower and I’d be happy to burn some points, I don’t need anything too fancy most of the time.

So strange, I just got a new IHG card too… I had seen a one dollar charge and when I called Chase they said it was tried again the same day!

What is going on? I thought it was me because I just used it overseas. Sadly, it was only at the airport, thought it would be trustworthy but can not confirm that was when.

Is it because of the no foreign transaction fees… Maybe we are all using it outside the country for that reason?

Thank you to Chase for helping me right away. I do feel bad about the chargeback to the non-profit.

Had 2 fraudulent charges on my Chase Sapphire Preferred a few months ago. Chase caught those. Had a $25 charge for Minecraft in Sweden to my IHG account last week that Chase did not catch and I had to call about. Funny how Chase accounts are the only ones I’ve had problems with. I wonder if it’s an inside job… LOL

Two of my family’s United Explorer cards had fraudulent online charges recently and Chase caught them. But we haven’t used the cards for a while and they are all in our possession too. Asked them if they had data breach and they said no too.

Interesting about the fraud on IHG. I had fraud on mine too. I think it was in December. Chase caught it and contacted me and then replaced the card. I figured it was probably some big data breach as I hadn’t used the card in a long time (mainly just used to get my sign up bonus last spring/early summer).
