The Offer

Direct Link to offer

Amazon was rated number 1 in corporate reputation with an 86.27 score. To celebrate, they are have the following offer:

  • Get $8.62 off almost anything on the Amazon site with promo code BIGTHANKS at checkout

Simply add $50 of stuff to your cart and use promo code at checkout to get the discount. It won’t work on Amazon gift cards but works on third party gift cards, both physical and electronic.

The Fine Print

  • Today only; offer expires at 11:59 PT on 2/22/17
  • One offer per customer and account
  • Actually, we’ll round up from 8.627, so your discount will be $8.63
  • Offer only applies to products sold by Amazon.com; offer does not apply to digital content, video games, or Amazon Gift Cards; offer does not apply to orders placed through Alexa, Prime Now, Amazon Restaurants, or any mobile application other than the Amazon Shopping App

Sample Deals

If you have $50 of stuff to buy on Amazon, no need to run to gift cards. If not, consider locking in the 17% discount on any one of the following gift cards or e-gift cards.

E-Gift Cards

Here’s the link for all electronically delivered gift cards on Amazon. You’ll have to scroll down a bit to skip Amazon’s own gift cards and find the third party cards.

Physical Gift Cards

Here’s the link for all physically mailed gift cards on Amazon. You’ll have to scroll down a bit to skip Amazon’s own gift cards and find the third party cards.

This is obviously an excellent deal. Most people will have $50 of stuff or a $50 gift card they are interested in buying on Amazon at 17$ off. You can also buy some Dash buttons as a filler to get you to $50.

So which gift card is best for reselling purposes? I’m not sure yet. You should be able to make a couple dollars reselling Staples or Sears gift cards. Finding something you can use yourself will always be the best deal.

This post contains our Amazon affiliate link but don’t forget you can use Jetblue for 3x instead.

Was going to order Southwest card but then realised I earn a bonus on airline travel, can get 3x UR/TY! So I ditched that idea and did the Netflix instead. Thanks DoC!

Matthew, just as a heads-up, you can get 5x UR on Netflix with Chase Ink. You should have gone with Southwest. 🙂

DoC, as always, thanks for the tip. For a non-Prime member like myself, I enjoyed buying a GC at 17% off and then get free shipping on a $15 item not sold by Amazon as an added bonus.

dont get it. ur talking about rev fare? if so, you can get way more than 3x UR w/ 5x Amex Plat or 5x Ink Office or if you buy ebay GC at discount. Guess it just depends on how you value things, but still, this is a 17% discount + Jetblue. I dont get it.

Good point! I actually haven’t use the 5X benefit yet. Partly bc I haven’t booked a revenue ticket in a while, and also because I rely on the Prestige travel/delay insurance. Also, given the low cost of airline tickets lately, I usually book them via Priceline for $5 cashback as one-way tickets. Although the tickets do all book via the airline merchant name, I’m worried Amex won’t let them qualify for 5x. I guess I should just try it sometime on a cheap ticket as I’m not finding detailed info on 5x (except that MPX doesn’t work).

A pleasantly multi-part discount purchase with this. I can spend $50 at Lowe’s just by breathing, so I got one of those gift cards, and the discount applied. Chose the no-rush shipping to get $5 Prime Pantry credit, and then paid the $41.37 from part of my Amazon gift card balance, which has been building up a couple of dollars at a time over several months from draining remnants of Visa gift cards. That was entertaining.

Realized I had a promotional credit from Amazon leftover. Once that was used up, I got the promo no problem.
