Useful for extending some points or getting enough for an award stay. Obviously you only want to bid on items that you’re sure will be bid on again or items that you’re happy to win with the bid you placed. I’d look at newly listed items for desirable events (usually tickets to events sell well). Really think they should be offering some more points for this promotion, like 1,000 would be a lot more tempting but hey some of you might find this helpful.

Didn’t get it but I have exactly 20k balance. Just waiting and hoping for that same American Airlines promo last week that have an extra 5k miles for transfers turning 20k to 30k. Hope that comes around then I can close my account
