Chase has sent out an e-mail to IHG Business cardholders informing them that after December 31, 2026 the anniversary free night certificate can be used on properties that cost up to 50,000 points per night. Currently the certificate is good for properties up to 40,000 points per night:
Anniversary Free Night: Anniversary Free Night will be available for redemption on your account anniversary date each year. “Account anniversary date” is the date that is 12 months after your account open date, and the same date each 12 months thereafter. Anniversary Free Nights awarded through December 31, 2026 will be valid at IHG® Hotels with a point redemption value of 40,000 points or less (covers one standard room night and tax only), with the ability to add on points from your IHG One Rewards account to redeem your Anniversary Free Night at hotels above your point redemption level. *Beginning in 2027, Anniversary Free Nights awarded will have a point redemption value of up to 50,000 points or less and will still enjoy the ability to add on points from your IHG One Rewards account. *Anniversary Free Night must be redeemed, and stay must be completed, within 12 months from date of issue.
This change seems limited to the business card for now, but let’s hope we see it extended to the personal card as well. The free night certificate doesn’t have any spend requirement and the annual fee on the business card is $99.
