Our Verdict

Don’t think this is a good use of your time, as the appointment will take around one hour (not including travel time). I definitely don’t want anybody at Wells Fargo looking through my accounts, either. I’m sure some of you may still take advantage of this offer, but for me it’s a hard pass.

I was the one that made him aware of the offer and here is why. The wording is very specific and says:
-You must schedule an appointment with a banker by 1/22
-If you cancel the appointment you will not get the gift card.

Here’s what it doesn’t say. It doesn’t say you have to go to the appointment and doesn’t say not showing up will disqualify you. The online sign-up only asks for basic info and can be done in 2 minutes. I recommend scheduling the appt and then just not going. There’s no guarantee you will get the gift card but based on the language of the offer you should. The worst that could happen is that you lose 2 minutes of time filling out the form.

Technically you might be right that you are meeting the terms but the below line seems to imply that you won’t get the gc. Also, maybe I’m reaching here but WF might hold it against you next time you want to apply for something for standing them up.

“Any attempt to obtain more than one gift card by using multiple identities and/or email addresses or by scheduling multiple appointments for the sole purpose of obtaining gift cards will result in disqualification.”

It says
” any attempt to obtain more then one gift card by using multiple identities or email addresses or by scheduling multiple appointments”

I definitely haven’t done that. I made one appointment and used 1 email address. They are actually my main bank and the one I use 95 percent of the time. I do see what you are saying though.

Hey any word on if you got a bonus? I’m skeptical but made an appt and registered for promo. Couldn’t go though.

Concur William. This is a sleazy as bankers get, offering you a pittance while going on the equivalent of a banking fishing expedition. Yup, we’ll (not) go far with this one.

Have a hunch this was dreamed up by one of the “walk-all-overya,” see-how-many ways-we-can-abuse-our-best=customers team they inherited when they swallowed up my previous all time least favorite bank — Wachovia.

That’s a really sad offer. What’s next, $10 to listen to a car dealer? If you were planning on a visit to a snake oil bank salesmen at Wells Fargo, then I guess. The bank is more the fool to offer this though. One, because it’s an insult to someone with the financial worth that would profit the salesmen and bank. Two, anyone that needs $10 that bad to go through this likely walks out of the branch wasting WF time. Don’t understand the logic of this promo at all. Only 25,000 people get the golden ticket into the bank so you better hurry! Sorry a bit cynical this morning.

Haha “$10 to listen to a car dealer”. I did not find it cynical.
Thanks for the lough. How about &10 to talk with a Jehovah witness?

Well there actually are offers for taking test drives, so it seems WF is actually late to the game.

I also received this, but I don’t think its a good idea for them to open my accounts there, and start asking me why the large purchases at grocery stores…..not worth $10 to me 🙂
