Merchant doesn’t take credit cards or paypal. Which just so happen to be the only two options to pay on ebay (unless you want to use a gift card to pay for another gift card, and even then I’m not sure whether it would work)

Beats me. I tried again today and no dice with either credit card or paypal.
A lifetime ago ebay blocked using ebay gift cards to pay for other gift cards. Which was quite a waste a long time ago when I rolled a prepaid visa or whatever over to ebay gc, figuring I’d maximize value.
Is it normal that I would be charged tax on this? (I’m ordering from Seattle WA so 5x$100 GC’s ends up at $460 + $46.46 = $506.46 … not such a good deal for me at least
No, not normal. From memory tax is usually removed at checkout though

anyone care to share to how best to maximize miles/$ on ebay GC’s, assuming you can resell exactly at your purchase price and not higher?
ATT more CC comes to mind for online purchases but I’m looking for other options.
Gift cards won’t stack with shopping portals, so your best bet is a high earning credit card (Amex Biz Blue+ would get you 2 MR pts/$.) Churning on eBay is tricky at best as eBay takes a 10% cut when you sell. Visa gift cards typically go for +20% over face value, so if you can get them at a discount like with the current Safeway/Vons offer and buy them with a credit card that gets you a high grocery store bonus (Amex Gold would get you 4 MR pts/$) you can churn pretty successfully.
Wow. Selling VGC’s on eBay…what could possibly go wrong?? I’ve tried to sell a grand total of 5 gift cards on eBay, iTunes and PlayStation, scam was attempted on 4, tho 3 happened before the GCs were shipped so no serious harm . 4th one eBay/PayPal has my back but this was 2015 before seller protections for GC’s changed.
AT&T doesn’t earn 3X on PPDG anymore (at least that is the last DP I saw). Citi AA Biz card earns 2X on only PPDG gift cards on eBay. That is the only one that codes it as a bonus at this point as far as I know. Just use whatever your best non bonus spend card is or use a card where you are working on a sign up bonus on.
