Our Verdict
Citi recently made some major changes to this card including the annual fee increase and authorized fee increased along with some additional credits. I don’t think this card is worth holding long term, but if you can use the benefits and miles then this is a good bonus on this card and I don’t see it going higher in the future. We will add it to the best credit card bonuses.
If I took out the Citi Strata card one year ago, does this keep me from getting the bonus on the Citi AAdvantage credit cards? Thanks!
No, you’re eligible for this one if approved
It is now showing 70k only.

I would jump on this deal, but Citi stopped allowing AA credit cards to product change to the no annual fee cards like Custom Cash/Double Cash that earn Thank You points. I am hoping this is only a temporary policy, but as of today, AA cards can not be PC’ed to cards that generate Thank You points.
But you could just cancel the card after one year?
They used to allow PC outside product family?
Yes, they did. Not sure if they still do, but I PC’d a Citi AA to Citi Prestige and still have it
Does anyone with the card know how easy it is to get a complimentary upgrade seat from say economy to business/first? I had this card a long time ago and the only perk I got was priority boarding.
I have the card and fly a lot on AA. This card hasn’t helped much with upgraded seats, certainly no upgrades to first. You have to have 50,000 loyalty points (not AAdvantage miles) before you really begin to get seat upgrades, and that takes a lot of flying on paid flights (as opposed to rewards flights). Would welcome tips from anyone as to how to get more loyalty points/seat upgrades.
Outside of seat upgrades, the card has been valuable for me. I have been pleased with the value of the miles, and get a lot of benefit from the Admirals Club lounges. Plus the free luggage and preferred seating.

Anyone know if citi allows convertion of the card to something else?
They might, when I wanted to close my Platinum Select account last year, the lady was pushing very hard to convert it to the $0 AF MIleUp card; you can only close anything at city via phone, so they may offer something to you as well.
Called citi and requested for custom cash rewards or other generic citi convertion, but was told that only to the milesup ($0 AF) card the system is allowing. So proceeded with that. Autopay already deducted 99$ AF but the rep said it will be reversed (and it did in few days).
Yeah, I guess we gotta stay within the family. 🙂
It varies. Two years ago I converted an AAdvantage card to a Custom Cash. Now Citi only converts AA to the MileUp card.
can you “cashout” the aveis/budget credits by booking and cancelling? thatd make a huge duifference in the effective AF (considering a triple dip, that an extra 240 less (475 vs 235 since i dont value any other useless credits)
From the mailer I received with this offer, it looks like the offer is scheduled to end on 7/15/2025:
“Respond by 7/15/2025 with your invitation number”
P2 and myself were both just denied. Have to wait 7-10 days for a letter. We both have credit scores over 800. We both last had this card back in 2014. First credit card denial for either of us in a long time.
Hi, what was the outcome of the denial? I have just applied for the personal card (not this one), and both my wife and I were denied right away. This is news to us as we don’t usually get denied by Citi. Thanks for the feedback
Is there a business version of this card with club access?
