I saw a banner on the app this morning that said the offer was extended to 3/28 but I don’t see that any more. Weird.

if I bought a flight through the chase portal, included my RR during booking, and will travel within the time frame, will I get the companion pass if booked through chase portal?

*I also did use my chase points to book this flight

Can the qualifying round trip flight (to earn the companion pass) be booked with Southwest gift cards?

Yes, it can be booked with gift cards or travel credits. Just not points.

Do we think that the two one-way trip purchase can be met by one one-way trip with two passengers? On the same or different record locator?

P2 and I already have a booking during the promotion period and I’m thinking I can just cancel and rebook to qualify.

No, would need to be two one way trips by the same person.

Was there some verbiage about that in the T&Cs? I just see “two one-way qualifying Southwest® flights” and one person can purchase two one-way tickets in the same record locator for two pax. Not seeing a distinction.

I might try it. Have those who have booked qualifying flights, were you notified immediately that you had qualified?

I called to confirm this and the rep told me that as long as I clicked on the “register now” button and then signed into my rapid rewards account it works for a one way for myself and P2. I will probably HUACB to speak with another agent to see if they say the same thing out of worry now.

Ah .. never mind. It isn’t in the T&Cs fine print but they do say in the promo copy “Qualifying flight(s) must be flown by the same Member.”

I just booked and flew last week. Why couldn’t do they 10 days ago 🙁

Any reason why this couldn’t be done by splitting a one-way with two legs into two separate one-way flights on the same day?

Weirdly, I’m seeing it as significantly cheaper in my single spot check:

April 3, MDW-DEN-SLC
5:55-10:00
$426

April 3, MDW-DEN
5:55-7:35
$175

April 3, DEN-SLC
8:20-10:00
$130

Total for two one-ways: $305, for a savings of $121

Can this be earned by splitting a two-flight, one-way trip into two separate one-way trips? E.g., for MDW-SLC with a DEN layover – split it to fly one-way MDW-DEN then one-way DEN-SLC on the same day?

Have you priced it both ways? Breaking apart a two-leg is likely going to cost more then one ticket. Heck, sometimes flying a two-leg is cheaper than just the first leg.

Weirdly it’s cheaper from my sample size of one. See my reply to Will above (accidental double post).

FYI the deals only good if you book with cash. “Not valid on flights purchased with Rapid Rewards points”

Sucks. I have 2 One way trips in the stated period for me and p2. Using my points ofc.

If the fares are still reasonable, just cancel the award fare, and book a cash one. Then use the points for the August and September travel, if you have any.

I had flights during those dates and it is unclear whether I need to cancel and rebook to take advantage of the offer. I think I will rebook just to be sure.

You do have to cancel and rebook. The terms say it must be booked after you register and March 25-May 22, 2024
