This was great with the Amex offer, hoping something comes up by my renewal in December

I wonder what prevents Mint from having Apple Watch service.

My Visible+ Legacy 2 plan ($395) renews soon and I’ve had such a good experience with it the past year it’s hard to switch away from it.

It’s nice to not be tethered to my phone but still reachable.

As a cellular expert, the answer is T-Mobile prevents Mint and their other MVNO’s from offering watch cellular service for those paying a cheaper monthly price as compared to being on full T-Mobile. Essentially, T-Mobile limits features, bandwidth, and internet speed for a cheaper price on Mint or Metro. Granted… T-Mobile has a monopoly on the best celluar signal available (the 600MHz spectrum) which is why I am on Mint. AT&T and Verizon and all of their MVNO’s are stuck on the much older, congested, slower 700MHz and 850 MHz signal. You can think of this as less bars or the signal does not penatrate your building / home or cover you in the middle of nowhere.

I did the promo last year and they let me renew for same price this year. $20 extra tax/fees so $200 for a year. not bad. Not a huge data user

how did you get them to honor promo on renewal?

It showed up in the app when I went to renew, no hassle at all. I did turn off auto-renew last year

Tempting, but I’ve been using 120gb+ hotspot/mo at 5mbps up/down with the $25/mo Visible plan, which has let me cancel home internet that cost significantly more, admittedly at much faster speeds.

Does the $25/month Visible plan include taxes and fees?

I use my iPhone as a hotspot when wifi internet is not available. It does have significantly higher latency.

Yes includes taxes and fees. Latency is much higher than fiber (what I had previously), but still capable of playing multiplayer games on Steam, streaming 1080p, teleconferencing, and general internet usage.

Taxes and fees are probably probably extra.

Moved from Mint to Visible $20/mo (all tax/fees included) plan year and half ago. More reliable Verizon service, and cheaper with 35% Chase offers practically every month.

Isn’t the chase offer, just on one payment or the first payment? Does it work on multiple months?

Gd

Every offer is a new one, so you get credited for using every single Chase offer. I get $7 back on most of my $20 monthly payments. Last year I even got $25 off $20 Visible offers on three of my Citi cards, where I actually made $5 for three months straight.

Mint is very reliable if you have good T-Mobile coverage in your area. YMMV…

Yes, Mint was fine around the metro area I live, but kept getting very spotty anytime I’d travel. This was up until early 2024 so maybe it’s gotten better since.

Some places in rural areas can be very spotty for all 3 of the major carriers from my experience with service going in and out. I have never had issues just with Mint (T-Mobile network) while traveling. YMMV for rural areas.

I’ve had Mint for four years and love it. It just got better since they’re international data is actuallyreliable now. Wish I could use this deal!

do they pull a verizon/visible and require their “day pass” to make wifi calling overseas? does wifi-calling over cellular data (3rd party sim card as data) work?

beat2def (@guest_2100360)

I got their 10-day pass and could make calls through WiFi or not.
Last year, I used a 3rd party but glad I don’t have to anymore (at last in Greece, Italy, and Switzerland).

On Mint, international wifi calling and sms messaging is free (both require a wifi connection). Do you mean international data is very expensive?

BOND

Mint offers free international Wifi calling and SMS messaging. Only need to buy passes for cellular data and calls without Wifi. Have not tried Wifi calling over cellular data. Does that use a 2nd cellphone with a 3rd party sim card as a hotspot?

if you have iphone it allows sim1 to be US-only-sim, and sim2 to be data-only provider. The sim1 will use data-only sim2 for calls/texts (functions like wifi calling, but over cellular data).

Tmo supports this, but VZ service (visible) did not w/o their overpriced roaming plan.

BOND
BOND (@guest_2100847)
July 16, 2025 18:24

sim2 is from the cell service provider-country outside the US? Both sim1 and sim2 are in the same iphone?

dbzdeals
dbzdeals (@guest_2101834)
July 17, 2025 20:38

yes, sim2 is a data only provider, using something like esimdb.com or maybe a local country specific sim card being used on the same phone. If sim1 (us) has international calling and supports “wifi-calling” over cellular data (sim2) you effectively get free international calling and roaming without paying the large tax.

interesting, and this disrupts VZ premium priced intl roaming plans so VZ blocks this setup

BOND
BOND (@guest_2101995)

Mint might allow that setup. Have you purchased esims on esimdb.com? Does that allow you use same esim for data at mulitiple countries on the same trip? For example a trip through Argentina, Chile, and Peru?

Should specify that this promo is for “new customers” only, which is typical of most Mint promos.

I’m a current Mint Mobile customer. To be considered a “new customer” your phone number can’t have been on their network for 90 days. The work around is to have another phone number you can use on Mint.
