AmEx Offers: Mint Mobile, Spend $90+ & Receive $45 Statement Credit

Update 10/7/22: Deal is back

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get a $45 statement credit when you use an American Express card enrolled in this offer to spend $90 or more with Mint Mobile by 11/9/2020.
  • Others are getting an offer for just $30.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid online only via mintmobile.com and merchant mobile app
  • Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 11/9/2020

Our Verdict

Sometimes Mint Mobile has discounted plans available via Best Buy. They have a new ‘unlimited plan’ that is $30 per month, but it’s actually 35GB and then the speed is capped. You can use this link to load your account with $90.

Got this email today: “get 3 months of free wireless when you come back to Mint” … so of course Mint Mobile made sure to wait 5 days after the AmEx offer ended to avoid us us stacking 6 months of ‘Unlimited’ (35 GB / month) for price of 3 months at rate of $90-45 with the AmEx offer.

I am considering switching to Mint and buying their lowest 1 year plan to trigger the Amex credit. Or I could go the new customer 3 month route but it seems costlier.

I wouldn’t commit to a year until you’ve had a chance to try it and see how it works in your area. Just go with the new customer, 3-month $90 unlimited plan instead. At least read through the DPs posted on Reddit before deciding:

https://www.reddit.com/r/mintmobile/

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoContract/search/?q=mint%20mobile

FWIW I’ve had Mint Mobile in the past and it was fine. I jumped ship to Visible for the unlimited hotspot, but probably jumping back to Mint for this deal.

On this page it says the wallet can only be used for times when you need more data, or international data:

Has anyone been able to use these funds to renew a plan?

It doesn’t say only it just goes over some options. I used mine and P2’s amex credits on my account to get a wallet balance of 180 just using the link. I then topped off for a year of service and “converted” the wallet to my “renewal credit”. So I guess, they don’t actually charge it officially until renewal but I used the wallet and my wallet balance is 0 currently.

Same, going to not use mint mobile this next time around if they pulled the offer prematurely.

It had a November something expiration.

Same here. sometimes if you don’t add it as soon as you see it, it may disappear, which sucks.

Anyone having trouble adding to their wallet? I can add my CC to Mint after adding the offer to my account, but using the link above to add ~$94, it just displays “Processing” with a loop forever. Tried my and P2’s cards with offer loaded. Afraid to try normal payment windows to see if this is just an issue with the $90 reload link or a general issue.

I think it wasn’t going through because the account was already expired — you can’t load the wallet unless the account is active.
I paid for a plan for the account and it went through, I then used the link above to add $90 to an active account on another card and that went through properly.

I payed a total of $95.12 ($85 wallet credit +$8 recovery fee + $2.xx tax)

BUT

I received a $90 wallet credit + $45 Amex SC = $135 equivalent

Good deal!

How did you pay for the wallet credit? I see only add $5, $10 or $20 in Load My Wallet option. Did you call the customer service for loading $90?
