Update 5/8/25: online offer officially ends at 9 am EDT on May 15, 2025 (per TPG)
Original Post 5/7/25:
We know that the 100,000 points bonus offer on the Chase Sapphire Preferred card is slated to “end soon”, sometime May 12th or later.
There’s now a Reddit post from discounted_cash_flow reporting that the offer is slated to end:
- Online applications will end on Thursday, May 15, 2025. (It sounds to me that May 15th itself the offer still be live.)
- Applications in a Chase branch will end on May 17th. (The 17th is a Saturday, so for branches closed on Saturday it would make May 16th the last day.)
There are often various links that float around after the official end date; this report gives us a baseline to work with. Usually these types of Reddit reports end up being accurate.
We don’t know when the $300 Rakuten bonus will end.
Two other tidbits worth keeping in mind:
- The 5/24 count goes back under 5/24 on the first of the same month in which your 5th card’s 2-year anniversary hits. For example, if your 5th card was opened on 4/15/2023, then you are good on 4/1/2025.
- If you are going to drop under 5/24 soon, you can apply now and get denied. Then, contact reconsideration after you get under 5/24. You should have 30 days to get the application reconsidered.
never owned a sapphire and applied 5/15 at 5/24 status. called recon today and was told that they could not reconsider the application and that I would have to re-apply. hard credit pull on experian as well so not sure where I went wrong
If you were at 5/24, that’s probably why you were denied.
I was at 5/24 in May and fell back down to 4/24 in June. They weren’t able to reconsider my application for the 100k offer and suggested me to make a new application.
I haven’t ran across a successful recon for 5/24 unless it’s an AU card, though I’m sure there are some. My guess is that you were denied because of that and not avail for recon. Chase seemed to be harder on this one, even the match cutoff date was tight.
Do you mean that there was a hard credit pull when you applied and when you asked for recon?
Yea the hard credit pull was taken on the date of application (5/15). I called recon on 6/12 hoping to get my 100k application reconsidered with no luck.
P2 applied on 5/12 and was instantly denied (out of 5/24 on 5/25). Called recon line yesterday (the first day of next month out of 5/24) and was told no longer qualified for reconsideration (even within 30 days). Any data point or advice? Thanks.
I’ve read that they don’t even pull your credit if you don’t qualify for 48 months, but thought they pulled credit if you made the 48 month limit, but not 5/24. So thought reconsideration would work if you’d meet 5/24 within the 30 days. May want to find out if they pulled your credit and if you’ve met the 48 month rule.
I’d try again because not all reps are good!
Did you try again? I applied 5/9 and was told today that the app is no longer qualified for reconsideration. I thought I had 30 days.
Did they pull your credit? If not, then no app to reconsider.
Did try again and got the same answer unfortunately.
I am in the same boat. I was told they do not reconsider this application and the credit is not pulled.
P2 applied on 5/12 and was instantly denied (out of 5/24 on 5/25). Called chase reconsideration line yesterday (the first month following 5/24) and was told no longer qualified for reconsideration (as flagged by the system). Any data point or advice?
After much work, finally approved. Here’s the full timeline.
5/12/21: Made transaction that triggered bonus for previous Sapphire bonus.
5/16/21: Previous Sapphire bonus given.
After reading many comments of people saying it’s the transaction date that triggered the previous bonus that counts toward determining the 48 month eligibility, I decided to apply online.
5/14/25: Applied online. Given 7-10 day message. Checked Chase online account a couple days later for reason for rejection and it stated: You earned a new account bonus on a Sapphire product in the last 48 months”. Called recon and the rep indicated that my credit was not pulled and that there was no way to reconsider the application in this case and I’d have to apply again. Rep indicated I’d be eligible to apply on 5/17/25 which just happens to be the very last day that the offer will be available (in-branch only at this point).
5/17/25: Had to drive 3 hours to get to a branch to apply in person. My local branch didn’t have anyone available since they were short staffed and it was a Saturday. Instantly approved for 100k bonus.
This timeline seems to indicate that it is the date of the previous Sapphire bonus that starts the 48 month counter, NOT the date of the transaction that triggered the previous bonus.
“5/16/21: Previous Sapphire bonus given.”
Was this the statement close date? Or when you saw the points go pending?
Thanks for posting. Congrats
Glad to know you got on the 100K train at the last minute, and thanks for sharing your counter DP. There have been many more positive DPs of using the date of transaction fulfilling the MSR as the start of the 48 months clock. Hopefully, with more DPs from either side, we will be able to figure out why it works for some but not for others and whether there is a clear pattern for it or it is just caused by some unknown system irregularity.
FWIW I had Chad do a ‘deep research’ to try to find any lingering links that show the 100k offer, and it seemed to try hard, but failed to find any working links.

Public page now showing 60,000 bonus
Product converted from my old CSP to Freedom with UR on 5/13 at 3 PM.
Applied for CSP today, 5/15 at 8:30 AM and was auto approved.
So less than 48 hours, which was a pleasant surprise.
Is the bonus determined by the time of submission or approval? I applied but it’s still under review. I just downgrade my previous CSP 2 days ago. Not sure if calling recon will result in direct rejection.
Whatever the offer was when you applied is what counts no matter how long it takes to be approved. Hopefully, you took print screens to be safe.
I’d give it 2 or 3 more days and then call reconsideration if you’ve met all the requirements. You should be approved and get the 100k bonus.
What’s the point in waiting to call reconsideration?
DPs suggested/recommended you wait 7 days after downgrade before you apply. That is IF you’re under 5/24 and 48 months since you last received the sign up bonus. I recommend you call them in a week. I was in the same boat, applied 2 days after downgraded my CSR to the old freedom late April (Apply for the CSP twice within one week, both times denied). I called the reconsideration line today 5/15 and got approved for the 100k.
Wife applied, got 7-10 day message. Called and was told denied due to Sapphire 48 month rule. No prompt during application like Amex gives.
Would she qualify within the 30 days? If so I’d call back when she qualifies.
That’s the plan currently. Not sure how it will work because I don’t see a credit pull.
Did they give you the 48 month reset date when you called after denial ? My secure messages to CS to get the date were unsuccessful ?
I messaged with last 4 of cc and was able to get the date, 33 days lol
Canceled CSR last Friday. Denied for CSP today with the reason saying that I still have a sapphire card. Hoping the card clears by tomorrow. Anyone else have a DP on time between cancelling on and opening another?
I downgraded mine to a CFU on Saturday. Applied on Monday, got “you still have a CSR.”
Applied today, went to pending (7 to 10, but hope springs eternal, that hasn’t always been an automatic no for me) and I can see the hard pull at Experian. Maybe cancelling takes longer for their systems to chew through.
Annoyed because I had to throw out my friend’s referral link that I used on Monday, since that link only yields 60K now; I tried recon first, and they said sorry charlie, try again in 30-60 days.
I like my friend fine, but not enough to HUACA. So I just went through the front door. The application went through, which is the experience I had 51 months ago when I downgraded my CSR to get a CSP. A couple of days wasn’t long enough, but four seemed to be. If I get approved (or if I don’t), I’ll likely convert back up to to CSR, though I might wait until I have an actual need for the 1.5cpp portal or another CSR specific benefit.
