American Express will open a centurion lounge at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport (AMS). The lounge will be located in Terminal E and is expected to open in 2026. The lounge will be approximately 6,000 square feet.
Who cares if you can’t get in. I just flew in from London yesterday. Lounge had a “bit of a wait” according to the smiling representative. How much was a “bit?” 45 minutes. I’ve had similar experiences in SF, Denver, and other airports. The AMEX card is a joke. Oh yeah, I tried the Priority Pass benefit in London, only accessible one hour or less to your flight. Which means about 20-30 mins of use if you have to board. Rant over.

For me it’s too little, too late, I prefer one hour connecting times over any lounges these days.

Amex would be wise to improve its brand image by bringing up the quality of its existing lounges. I don’t use my Platinum Card for lounge access. And, if the card’s refresh doesn’t meet what Chase has rolled out with the CSR refresh, it’s difficult to see keeping the card.
Ah, yes, the CSR ‘refresh’… so ‘great’… hundreds of extra dollars in annual fees to lose 3x Travel and have to burn new coupon-book-style credits…

Terminal E would suggest this will be non-Schengen, so that might not be ideal for passengers arriving from the US connecting to other EU destinations, etc. We’ll see.
AMS is an excellent airport, overall. KLM is usually very efficient, reliable. It’s one of the few airports and airlines where a 1-hour connect is not only doable, but relatively ‘easy.’
KLM Crown Lounge 52 (Intercontinental) is a great lounge already, but you’d need SkyTeam Elite Plus or to be flying Business to access. Showers, sleeping pods there have ‘saved’ me many times.
Should be nice to have additional options.

With the lounges frequently closed to Priority Pass holders this makes sense

There’s also a ‘coming 2025’ wall for one in HND on 5F.

Wonder if this one will also get shut down for health code violations and get people sick with food poisoning.

“if the card’s refresh doesn’t meet what Chase has rolled out with the CSR refresh”
Is that a high bar?

They’d better have stroopwaffles…
Given that the KLM Non Schengen lounge has had a mouse problem for years, and is still open, I doubt it will be closed for health code violations.
Their names are Mickey and Minnie, and they’re actually quite friendly…
