Update 3/17/24: Negative change starting in April – that they are no longer allowing dining/gas/transit receipts, and now you can only upload highly specific receipts to get a bonus. They also made a change that now each receipt will earn a reward separately. (hat tip to Ryan Goldstein)
Update 11/1/20: Seems to be worth installing the app as some people have reported being accepted into the program after installing it (and no e-mail received so check your app periodically). Hat tip to reader Kris
Original Post:
Amazon has launched a new invite only program called ‘Amazon Shopper Panel’ where you can earn $10+ per month by scanning receipts and completing short surveys. The basic part of the program is that you submit ten or more receipts per month (on purchases made outside of Amazon.com) and you receive a $10 credit or donation to a charity of your choice. You can then earn additional rewards by completing surveys.
Most receipt uploading programs are not worth doing due to the low payouts, but this works out to be $1 per receipt uploaded if you upload 10. Unfortunately the program is invite only and there doesn’t seem to be any way to request an invite. You can download the app to join the wait list though.

DP: The app accepted my 7/11 & Exxon gas receipts today. No go on McDonald’s. 🤡
Not a big deal in my case. Still easily earning $12+/mo, and already maxed out the receipt + ad verification portion for April. The only slight negative is that I can’t just upload receipts blindly, I need to be sure that they’re of the correct categories. But that won’t be a big deal to get used to.
This seems to be a positive change to me, getting $1 per each receipt uploaded with a $10 cap.
How is that a positive change? That is what it was before and apparently less categories are now included.
However, if you are correct (I haven’t checked my app yet), what you reported is great news and the fear mongerers will surely be disappointed.
I think previously we had to uplaod a minimum of 10 receipts to earn any rewards. Now we can upload less than 10 receipts and still get $1 per receipt uploaded.
I don’t think what you wrote is accurate. I’m pretty sure that the system awarded $1 per receipt up to 10 receipts. I always had 10+ every month so I can’t say that I am 100% sure on that though.
no, he’s right.
Interesting. I’m glad that I always reached 10 then.
This will hurt but it makes sense. Amazon wants to see what your buying in-store that they compete with. That’s why no gas or restaurants.
All of this time, I was under the impression that only receipts that included grocery items (ie supermarkets & drug stores) were allowed.
Just received a notification that says the following:
We’re updating accepted receipt categories, but don’t worry, most of your current receipts will qualify! See in-app notification for details. You’ll also earn a reward for each receipt – no more 10 receipt minimum! We’ll notify you when the changes go live.
In our ongoing effort to continuously learn, help brands offer better products, and make Amazon ads more relevant, we making the following changes:
The following receipts will continue to be eligible for rewards:
The following service business receipts will not longer be eligible for rewards.
Those changes don’t seem bad. All grocery receipts are still allowed. Too bad that Matthew already deleted the app.
“ You’ll also earn a reward for each receipt – no more 10 receipt minimum”
I missed that part. That doesn’t even make any sense.
The current way is a 10 receipt maximum, not a minimum. Why are you pointing that out anyway?
Eric I think the fear is that they will go the way of Swagbucks/MyPoints — you can upload all the receipts you like, for $0.02 each.
I’d prefer to wait for the facts to come out before speculating about the changes.
Even if what you wrote came to fruition, I’d be okay with it. I would just submit my receipts to Amazon like I do for Hog, Pal, etc.
If Amazon never gave me another dollar, I would probably still have made more from that app that all of the other receipt apps put together.
I have been an Amazon Shopper program member for years and I am super disappointed at these upcoming changes. Also, what is the point of demanding that only a paper receipt – and not an email or printed digital receipt – now qualifies for the rewards as of April 2024?
Such a shame, this was a great money maker. Granted I slacked and missed like 5 months. Wish they would’ve just nerfed the amount you earn or something, or increased the amount of receipts needed. Now it seems like it’s just going to be ibotta lite, not worth it.
Not sure if this is negative necessarily, we’ll see what happens in April. I got the message, along with a weird semi-buggy “Beta Offers” tab with the same offers that other people here mentioned.
I have beta version, this month, it say upload receipt with a Samsung tv purchase get $2,purple mattress $2,Hanes purchase $1,Bona spray mop $1,last months Adidas, Duracell, etc usually $1,2
yea this is becoming Ibotta very soon.
Maybe I’ll actually be able to get in now lol, I’ve been on the receipt waitlist for a year, and prior to that a waitlist just to get access to the app for surveys. I still use other receipt scanning apps despite the modest payouts. Hopefully they don’t nerf it too bad.
Adam,
Which others do you use? I just want to make sure that I’m not missing any.
Hello. I use Microsoft start and there’s a cash back feature. Scan 6 receipts within 14 days and get a bonus, but also each receipt is worth a cent unless there’s a multiplier for the store.
I use Start also.
The others that I use besides Amazon Shopper are Fetch, Receipt Pal, Receipt Hog, and CoinOut.
Do any others exist?
Frisbee, ibotta, Checkout 51, makeena, Shopmium, Merryfield, ReceiptJar, and Pogo are the others I have which you haven’t mentioned. ibotta, Checkout 51, and Shopmium are offer-specific apps, whereas the rest have the scan-any-receipt-and-get-rewarded feature. makeena and Merryfield have specific offers as well, with makeena’s focus on organic foods and Merryfield’s on good-for-you brands. And some of them have additional ways to earn: Checkout 51 has surveys–as does Pogo–along with gas cash back, (limited) online shopping, and a prescription savings feature. Like Fetch, Frisbee and Pogo offer you the option to play games and earn. And of course there’s the group of apps comprised of Swagbucks, MyPoints, Tada, and Inbox Dollars–all owned by the same company (Prodege), so there’s no stacking among them–where you can submit receipts for both specific purchases and just as any ol’ receipt for cash back.
Seconding ReceiptJar, I use it as well and is one people may be interested in checking out. It’s very similar to Receipt Hog. Each point is worth a bit less, but they also rack up quicker as you get points for every receipt, compared to Receipt Hog which only gives sweepstakes entries for some categories like dining out. Although I do get a fair number of surveys in Receipt Hog vs few to none in ReceiptJar, so factoring those in, earnings probably end up being pretty close between the two.
The Magic Receipts section in Swagbucks can have some pretty decent product-specific offers as well, and often they have a lot of “any brand” categories for milk, meat, produce, etc. that are worth 2SB each. You can also get points for submitting any receipt, although it’s only 1SB per (and limited to 10 receipts a week I think). Whether the juice is worth the squeeze is debatable, but it only takes 10 seconds so I usually submit them when I’m scanning receipts in other apps.
I actually have Ibotta and C51 also. I didn’t really think to mention those as receipts apps since they are only for certain offers like you wrote.
I have never heard of any of the others that you mentioned. Are Frisbee, makeena, Shopmium, Merryfield, ReceiptJar, and Pogo similar to any of the apps that I already use?
My favorites are actually CoinOut and Fetch because I can just submit all of my receipts at once to them and not have to worry about waiting a certain amount of time (Start, Hog) or be limited to a certain amount of receipts (Pal).
I have an account with all 4 of those Prodege companies but I never bothered to submit receipts to them. It didn’t seem worth the time and effort. Do you feel that it is?
Do you make a decent amount from any of the apps that you mentioned? Amazon Shopper by far paid the most to me ($12 per month) plus occasional surveys so it’s too bad if they are really nuking it.
