CLEAR is a service that offers expedited airport security. They have launched two new services called CLEAR Concierge that expedites your expedited airport security.
- CLEAR Concierge Express $99:
- Expedite your CLEAR+ experience
- Help you with bags from curb to bag check
- CLEAR Concierge Gate Service $179:
- Expedite your CLEAR+ experience
- Help you with bags from curb to bag check
- Guide you to your gate or lounge
- Assist you with carry-on bags beyond security
The fee is per visit, but is per party not per person. You also have to schedule a time and must do so at least ten hours in advance. Offering this service in the first place is kind of an indication of how well CLEAR works to expedite you if you need an additional service to get you through quicker. I could sort of see the appeal if you could just pay the fee on the spot if you’re feeling stressed/tight on time but the fact you have to pre book is laughable. That being said some people have so much money and this is a closer feeling to flying private so I can see some paying it.
Hat tip to DDG
I have multiple credit cards that come with a Clear credit. If I can use a different card than the one I paid the membership with, I can totally see using this, for free. Anyone know if you can use a separate form of payment?
Went to airport with partner few weeks ago i have clear she doesn’t we tested it. She cleared security about five minutes faster. Clear is a complete joke. I’ve constantly been slowed down by clear
Lol what a joke. I cancelled my membership this year, mostly in protest since Amex covers most of it (I’m on a family one so there was some left over balance) — it’s just not worth it – wish I could get back my biometrics
That’ll show em! You’re brilliant!
what in the world is this?
Capitalism baby!
I find it hard to believe CLEAR is “a business” (I’ve been getting it for free from my UA status, but that’s about to end). There just isn’t much value to the service they provide. That said, it does seem like there is a large number of people who want to “feel” special when they travel — even if they don’t actually get much for their money — so maybe that’s enough for them to limp along.
cmon. ur OG. u have been around long enough to know how this “business” works. if ur not paying, ur the product. cuz how can facebook be “free”? well, u know why.
This is the correct answer.
Same with ID.me.
The lure is easier access to something. The reality is that customers hand over all their personal data with no clue what it is really being used for.
Microcosm of the society.
Does this require a CLEAR subscription or can anyone pay for it and get it ?
If it is for anyone, there might be some market for it for elderly people or those with disability. But then again, airlines already offer a certain level of assistance for it.
Well, now there is CLEAR and CRY$TAL CLEAR
What will they have next when they aren’t able to keep the scheduled times?
next will be “CLEARLY NOT”

CLEAR has been such a joke. The last time I went through CLEAR at MCO, I watched as my travel companions went through the normal precheck line and waited 10 minutes for me just to get through CLEAR.
I think people traveling with young children or elderly parents will find this appealing. Not sure if I’d do it, but the process of going through the airport with strollers, car seats, and carrying babies is truly hellish.
From my experience, CLEAR often saves you minimal or no time, and occasionally costs you time. For instance, at JFK Terminal 4, they often merge the CLEAR and regular security lineups in order to go through dog-sniff-screening. It seems like they merge the lines at specific ratios of passengers (i.e. “1 CLEAR passenger to every 5 regular passengers”), and if that ratio happens to be worse than the current ratio of the lineup length (i.e. the CLEAR lineup has more than 1/5th of the people in the regular lineup) then you actually end up waiting a longer number of minutes. It’s a bit crazy for a paid service.
I guess assuming CLEAR and regular security lineups are a similar amount of time in minutes, I could still save time by jumping to the very front of the CLEAR line… so while CLEAR’s base service is often pointless, this “CLEAR concierge” could potentially be useful.
Maybe I’ll use this once, if one of my many credit card CLEAR statement credits can be used for this…
That’s what I thought too, especially one parent with several kids. If the Amex credits would be triggered, plenty of people could get a few for free.
