American Express has added 400 more hotels across fine hotels & resorts/the hotel collection. This brings the total to over 3,100 hotels across both. More properties is always a good thing, especially with rumors regarding a $300 semi annual hotel credit for Platinum cardholders.
FYI i think this is the list of the new properties added
shows 431 in total separated by countries
169 in Europe , 19 in Middle East & Africa , 133 in United States , 2 in Canada , 13 in Mexico , 21 in Bermuda & Caribbean , 67 in Asia Pacific , 3 in Central America , 4 in South America

Thank you!!
Here is the US version of that link, though I’m not really sure there’s any difference from the GB version…

Imagine being two grown men and arguing in the comments section about 400 Hotels being added to an FHR portal. Dont be an Andy or John folks
Be whoever you want,
Sean.
Don’t worry, Andy, you got a friend in meee
This better not be the only new benefit. Most youngins they’re targeting can’t afford these 3-4-500/night hotels. And the biz traveling crowd along can’t hold up the customer base.
Resist the urge to blame any generation… it’s always been about haves vs. have-nots…
Fuck are you babbling on about? Where is any blaming going on in my post? Don’t project your bullshit onto others.
Woah, language, sir… Uh, you compared “youngins” to “biz traveling crowd” which was implicitly, if not explicitly, about generational and wealth divides.
See: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/commenting-rules/ (“Be respectful: Avoid insults, personal attacks, and offensive language.”)
Did you really think using the ‘F-word’ or the ‘B-word’ was necessary?
The ‘b word’??? Jesus this place is full of clowns.
You can express yourself and your ideas on here without having to bring Him into this, too.
Andrew,
Grow up, you sound like a petulant child. Then again you sound like a person who still plays fantasy football and wear numerous sweatbands for the thursday night softball league.
Wow you’re a baby
You’re welcome to call me whatever you’d like, but that’s not really adding of value anything here.
Learn the meaning of the word ‘blame’
I read what you wrote, and I know what ‘blame’ means. My point remains that there are both “youngins” with the disposable income to pay and stay at FHR properties as well as there are frugal members of both the elderly (say on fixed incomes) and the “biz traveling crowd” who may prefer to stay at more affordable accommodations. Can you appreciate any of that nuance? If not, it’s okay. I can handle differing opinions. Be kind to yourself and those you care about. Sorry if I offended you on here. I meant well.
Most young people in their 20s I know with an Amex Plat are regularly spending that kind of money.
Exactly. And there are also older folks on fixed incomes that do not. It has everything to do with ‘means’ and little to do with age.
Anyone have a list of the new hotels that were added?

I use FHR primarily for the “guaranteed” 4PM late checkout. Far better than any top-tier status with ‘when available’ is at the hotels’ discretion (because they never go that late.)
Hyatt globalist is the one exception
As with
Fred’s comment, another good point; and slightly more attainable than Marriott Ambassador, it seems. I had to look up the qualification for Hyatt Globalist, since I’ve never achieved it; complete 60 qualifying nights or earn 100,000 base points within a calendar year, or hold 20 qualifying meetings or events. Again, I still think paying the Platinum card’s annual fee and booking a FHR stay is probably more attainable for most of us.
Indeed I find the FHR guarantee most ironclad, followed by Hyatt, then Marriott. Hilton and IHG don’t commit to any specific time and I sometimes find even a 1pm late checkout request is granted with the connotation of doing me a huge favor.
Then again I’ve had Hilton hotels in the US allow me to check out at 3pm on a Hotwire rate (when I had asked the front desk to add my Hilton Honors number at check-in). So there is a great amount of variation on the hotel level.
Marriott Ambassador now has guaranteed 4pm checkout.
Like
Noobchurner, that’s a good point,
Fred, though, if I recall correctly Marriott Ambassador requires earning 100 Elite Night Credits and spend $23,000 USD in qualifying spend annually, so paying the Platinum card’s annual fee and booking a FHR stay is probably more attainable for most of us.
Very tempting
I usually just book an extra night and dont announce my departure
Never know i could have a flight cancellation and i would already have a room
