[Targeted] Add your Chase Card to Google Pay and get 1,500 Bonus Ultimate Rewards Points [Sapphire & Freedom Cards]

The Offer

People are getting a bonus offer from Chase via email to:

  • Earn 1,500 bonus Ultimate Rewards points when you add your Chase credit card to the Google Pay app and make three purchases during the month of July.

The Fine Print

  • This offer is valid from 07/01/2018 through 07/31/2018.
  • To qualify for this offer, you must make 3 transactions using your consumer Chase Freedom Unlimited card with your Google Pay account during checkout.
  • Purchases are when you, or an authorized user, use a card to make purchases of products and services, minus returns or refunds.
  • Please allow up to 8 weeks after the qualifying purchase(s) post(s) to your account for the bonus points to post to your credit card account.
  • To receive the bonus points, your account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.
  • If you change your credit card product during the promotional period you will forfeit this offer.
  • This offer is non-transferable.
  • Limit one offer per customer or card account.

Our Verdict

Offer is probably targeted, though it may still be going out. People are seeing this offer on the Sapphire and Freedom card lines, haven’t heard about any other cards. I don’t think it’s possible to do this deal on an iPhone, and they may not send it to people who they believe have iPhones.

Really nice that they’re offering 1,500 points instead of $15 as that can result in added value. If anyone has a screenshot, I’ll add it to the post (chuck@doctorofcredit).

Just a heads up – the 1500UR doesn’t post on an individual line like normal transactions. It will be added as a bonus line to your 3rd qualifying purchase, once it posts to your account.

Same error – I’ve tried at a couple of major retailers and Google Pay would not work but Samsung Pay did. Had NFC turned on as required.

I’ve had issues with it at certain places, but not others. Not sure why.

Does anyone know if I can add my spouse’s card to my Google Pay account? He was targeted, but doesn’t have NFC on his phone.

You can switch to his Google account from your phone’s Google Pay app, then switch back to your own.

Never use GP before. Received offer from Chase and want to stack it with GPs first time user promo of use 5x on separate days and get $10 credit. My phone doesnt have NFC so I can only use online. Just checked Amazon and its a no go. Anyone know the cheapest way to do this?

Never added a Chase card to Google Pay but did not get the offer. Do you have the Chase Pay app?

You can get the SpotHero app and reserve a parking spot at the cheapest garage. $1 in my area.

To those who received the email, did you use Google Pay at all during Q1? And if so, did you remove your payment info once the quarter ended? I still have my info in there after using it for CF during Q1 bonus period. Wondering if that could be why I didn’t get the offer. I have the CF and CSP in my Google Wallet.

Same here. I didn’t remove it until last month and was not targeted.

Never got Google pay. Is this something used in store or just online?

It’s both.

You can pay in store with a supported Android phone or pay online at some stores.

Any idea if there is like a 5 minute delay between purchases needed with Google Pay ala Samsung pay?
