A lot of masks on amazon are fake, especially KN 95. These do not have the correct labeling to be KN95 certified. See:

Just 2 months back, it was selling for 25$ for the same 25 pieces. These guys are really following the dynamic pricing model.

Buying these.

We need a permanent mandate. No one has the right to put my health at risk for any disease, nevermind COVID.

Agreed. I bought two. Masks should be required everywhere, any time anyone steps foot outside of their home. If they have kids, they should be mandated IN THE HOME too.
We also need government cameras IN HOMES WITH KIDS to ensure that safety rules are being followed. Remove your mask even for a minute, and lose your kids.
Forever. Safety is more important than freedom in the new normal.

It’s a good price to stock up on some masks. Can be useful in a variety of situations.

could be fake kn95s – ensure a proper snug tight fit – test quality with burn, cut, water test

These do NOT meet the accepted standards for KN95 masks.

Masks that meet the standard(s) have the standard printed on them. GB 2626-2019, or GB-2626-2006. If you get them from a reliable source (i.e. not 3rd party sellers on Amazon), you can be sure it isn’t from a sketchy manufacturer who just put that on the mask and sold it.

The box appears to have GB 2626-2019 based on the Amazon photos.

My understanding is that KN95 is not an enforced standard, meaning any manufacturer can print both KN95 and the standard (GB2626-2019) even without having been reviewed by any regulatory agency. So you run this risk with any KN95 that is not independently verified to have 95%+ filtration efficiency.

Best bet is to follow an independent reviewer like Armbrust who tests these masks and buy a KN95 that they’ve tested. Or better yet, buy NIOSH approved N95 or KF94, both government enforced standards.

Actual tests of KN95 masks have shown filtering around ~60% in some cases. But, like the other person here, I just want them for yard work.

being fully vaccinated and in relative good health.. I just want comfortable masks for places where thye’re required or places where it makes sense to have 60% protection. I don’t care about 95% protection.. the idea of the vaccines is that the teach your body how to fight the infection so frankly if you never have any exposure to the virus that’s kind of stupid too. Most people don’t seem to understand this very basic fact.

@Olivia. “…the idea of the vaccines is that the teach your body how to fight the infection so frankly if you never have any exposure to the virus that’s kind of stupid too.”

I’m sure those who were vaccinated and still died from it (hundreds of thousands of people) would disagree with you 100% if they were still alive. And you’re calling that stupid?

@James L
NIOSH approved N95 or KF94 masks have also failed Amrbrust’s tests, so those standards don’t mean anything, unless you’re saying Armbrusts testing methods are faulty.

That’s not at all what I was saying. N95 and KF94 have rarely failed Armbrust’s tests, and the ones I’ve seen by a margin of around 1-2%, which is within a much more reasonable margin of error. Meanwhile KN95s are the Wild West basically with no enforcement and produce sometimes really poor quality masks. These are vast differences in “standards.” An actual standard is not foolproof but it’s much better than an untested KN95.

KN95 is a Chinese fake form of 3M N95.

I feel lucky so far. The free ones that we recently got from the Administration at pharmacies — wow! You really can’t breathe. Now for the first time I know what people were complaining about, and would routinely double my masks without a problem. I will save those freebie masks for a more desperate situation.
