Amazon Announces Day of Major Sales on July 15, ‘Prime Day’

Amazon announced today that they’ll be marking their 20th anniversary introducing a day of blowout sales on July 15, for Prime members only. Promises are made that it will be bigger even than Black Friday.

Press Release

You can signup now for Amazon Prime and get a 30-day free trial. This will enable you to be part of Prime Day and seems to be the primary goal of the event. Remember also that Prime members can share their Prime membership with 4 other household members as well.

The wording of the Press Release sounds like Prime Day will be an annual tradition which may really increase the value of Prime membership if it turns out to be really good deals.

Deals will be released starting midnight, with new deals coming out as often as every ten minutes. Prime Day will be available to the 40 million Americans who are Prime members, as well as in a number of other countries.

$10,000 Raffle

There’s also a raffle for $10,000 in Amazon gift cards, available for Prime members. You need to enter the raffle between now and July 15. (Eligible only to Primary account holders of an Amazon Prime account.)

If you cancel, say after 5 month, do you get a pro-rated refund?

Yes, you should. I’ve had Prime and cancelled it before (and then gotten it again) and the refund was pro-rated.
