Our Verdict
Because these are considered a direct booking you do earn loyalty points, elite night credits and your status is recognized. Recently Marriott has had increased portal rates (e.g 12% with BeFrugal & Ebates). Interesting to see an airline portal offer such a high rate as well. Marriott is trying to put the squeeze on online travel agencies to lower the commission they have to pay now that they own SPG, I’m guessing direct bookings might also be down as a result of the SPG data breach as well.

If you have a Corporate rate code or AAA code that you use while booking, would you still get this 10x miles or 10/12% cashback offered by different websites?
I just got an email from topcashback of also up to 10% cashback on Marriott…worth checking that out as well
interesting. I don’t see any promo codes on the site, so i assume that means none of them will work.
But i wonder about AAA & member-only rates, would they qualify for the mileage bonus?
I don’t see why not. I did the ebate and topcashback booking around Thanksgiving with a 12% rebate and booked under AAA rate and received my portal cash back. I didn’t use any promo code since none of the code applied to the property I was staying at.
