Update 11/14/20: Showing on referral this time.
Update 11/12/20: Offer is back; no specific expiration shown this time. Also doesn’t seem to be available via referral this time. (On a related note, the Blue Cash Preferred $300 offer with $95 fee waiver is still available as well, both via the public link and referral.)
The Offer
American Express released a new signup bonus on their Blue Cash Everyday card today:
- Earn 20% back on Amazon.com purchases on the Card within the first 6 months of Card Membership, up to $200 back.
- Plus, get $150 statement credit after you spend $1,000 in purchases on the Card within the first 6 months of Card Membership. (This shows as $100 for some, but if you go incognito you should get $150 offer to show.)
Offer valid through October 7, 2020. “Purchases must be made at Amazon.com, or via the US Amazon mobile app using your new Card. Excludes purchases of Amazon.com and third-party gift cards, as well as corporate gift card and custom-designed gift card purchases.”
Card Details
- No annual fee
- 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets (on up to $6,000 per year in purchases, then 1%)
- 2% cash back at U.S. gas stations and at select U.S. department stores
- 1% back on other purchases
- Low intro APR: 0% for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers, then a variable rate
Our Verdict
We once saw a better offer of $250 + $200 via Amazon discount, but typically the offer is $150 or $200 which makes this current offer pretty good. It’s also nice that they give 6 months to meet the spend requirement for this offer. Spending $1,000 on Amazon should fully trigger both bonuses since you’ll get $200 from Amazon (20% back) + $150 statement credit for spending $1,000.
Reader George notes being able to get this offer to show with a referral link, making it much more lucrative. For example, your spouse might be able to refer you and get as much as 25,000 Membership Rewards points, and you’ll get the $300 signup offer too. You might only see $2000+$100 via referral, but some are seeing $200+$150 via referral as well.
