American Express Fidelity (2% Cash Back) Now Offering 5% Cash Back Categories

This card does not exist anymore, their is a new Fidelity visa can but there are no 5% back categories.

The Offer

  • Current cardholders of the American Express Fidelity card should have received an e-mail that they can get 5% cash back in the following categories:
    • Airfare
    • Hotels
    • Travel agencies
    • Car rentals
    • Cruises

The Fine Print

  • You can earn a limit of $25 cash back ($500 in spend)
  • Must enroll in this offer at https://easyrewards.fiacardservices.com/
  • Valid until March 31st, 2015
  • Allow up to 12 weeks after the promotion ends for your credit to post

Our Verdict

If you didn’t receive the targeted e-mail, try going here. Then click “don’t have one” and follow the prompts. As more cards start to offer 2% cash back or more, Fidelity is going to have to improve this card continually to stay relevant.

Fidelity can afford to eat losses on this card because Fidelity customers that have this card keep on average 3.5 times more in their fidelity accounts than those without this credit card. The $500 spend limit is pretty pathetic when compared to other 5% cash back cards, but obviously the upside is that this card earns 2% cash back on all purchases rather than the standard 1% cash back.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come and they start offering 5% categories every month that are open to all.

I never received an email about the 5% promotion. Anyone successful in registering the 5%?

In the past, I’ve received similar targeted promotions for a couple of times. No luck this time. I guess that it means I should move to Citi double cash.

No luck for me either. This appears to be a targeted offer.

I clicked that i have no reg code and after putting my info in got this error: “Record not found.” Anyway I don’t cray about it since these categories are not at all relevant to me. Hopefully they come up with something else in the future.
