American Express has been known to send out complimentary gifts to some cardholders. For example: $250 Tiffany giftcards, $250 BLADE gift cards and Amazon Echo’s. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason as to how cardholders are selected (but I highly doubt it’s random. It’s most likely criteria the the gifters choose similar to AmEx Offers).

There is also a Twitter hashtag: #amexappreciates. People look to have received gift cards to Bonobos as well. It’s highly doubtful you’ll receive one of these, but at least you know what to look out for I guess.
