American Express has announced that they will be discontinuing the print editions of Centurion & Departures magazine. The final editions will be May/June for Departures &Â Spring/Summer for Centurion magazine. Honestly the only good thing I found about the Centurion magazine was when they released advertising rates you could use that information to work out how many Platinum cardholders American Express has.

They’re my favorite drink coasters. I protect my table while displaying my arrogance. Classic win-win.
Honestly, I only read departures magazine when I’m in the bathroom taking a dump.
Oh, the injustice! Thank goodness United is still sending me Hemispheres.
Maybe I’ll sign up for a Luxury Card to I can replace Departures with Luxury Magazine.
In spite of the over the top ads, I found the articles to be interesting on the whole. While sometimes tilted towards consumption (it’s from a credit card company no less), there were many thoughtful ones too — from mindfulness to environmental to philanthropy. I’m not afraid to admit I’ll miss it. Just another (small) reason to question this card’s value as the fee sky-rockets and the coupon book positioning accelerates.
I guess that leaves US Bank as the only premium card including a silly magazine subscription.
Honestly, Departures was about 90% ads, 5% places I’d be interested in visiting/eating, and 5% satisfaction seeing a place I’d already been.
I admit, I enjoyed flipping through Departures for the photography, but somehow my heart will go on.
is AMEX discontinuing an ads platform or something useful for user?
So I can no longer browse through private jet chartering options while using the bathroom? Aww…
All 5 of mine went straight into the trash, so thanks for saving me 13 seconds every three months, amex!
Final straw. Cancelling my Plats!!
