Our Verdict
American Express points are even more valuable than Hilton points even at a 1:2.5 rate so I don’t think this is worth considering.
Decent offer. Too bad I already booked Hyatt tho.
I dont do Hiltons unless it’s 1:3.
When is the last time that’s happened though?
Looks like last year around this time. There was also a larger Amex Platinum only one. However, before that the bonuses were higher but way more sporadic
How often do airline and hotel programs offer transfer bonuses?
They did it once years ago. Pretty much every other time it’s been 1-2.4 or 1-2.6
Yeah. They used to do 1:3 offers, then 1:2.6… now 1:2.5. Nobody transfer! Otherwise this becomes “the offer”
Not entirely bad if being used for a room at a waldorf astoria for 100k hilton points/night that has cash rate of $1k+, that gives about 2.5 cents per point value on the 40k amex points to transfer on this. Oftentimes though hilton sells points directly at half a cent each, which would make this same room effectively cost $500 to buy the points.
This has been “the offer” for years. 1:3 happed once and isn’t coming back. Continuing to hold out is only going to hurt you have specific Hilton redemptions in mind
