Amex Gift Card Payout Increased at Befrugal [Expired]

This deal is now over, make sure you follow us on Twitter so you never miss out again.

The Offer

Befrugal is paying out 2% for American Express Gift cards for possibly today ONLY (no details on their website).

Generally portals pay 1-1.5% : Currently TopCashback is paying 1.5% while Ebates had 2% payout yesterday via their mobile app.

(This increase to 2% from 1.5% is a moderate increase when buying gift cards in $2k denominations. The 0.5% increase equates to an additional $10 in portal payout per $2k giftcard.)

Direct Link

Fine Print

  • DO NOT use any promo codes as they will invalidate any Cashback via the portal.
  • DO NOT purchase any denominations above $2,000 as they will NOT earn Cashback. (Can purchase more than one card per transaction.)
  • 2% Cashback on BOTH Personal and Business Gift cards
  • BEWARE: Citi cards tend to AGC purchases count as cash advances with significant fees.

Keep in Mind

The portal payouts for American Express Gift cards have come down a bit over the past year (seen as high as 4x from Barclay’s Rewardsboost portal last April). It also seems that more restrictions have been implemented in regards to these purchases ($2k max denominations allowed via portals).

The Verdict

There have been several 2% cashback offers within the past 2 weeks. This might be a sign of good things to come and potentially higher payouts soon. I personally am going to purchase some gift cards because my order yesterday was cancelled.

Do you have any idea which credit card does not count AGC purchases as cash advances? I want to MS my Ritz Carlton CC but when I called Chase the rep told me cash advance limit could only be set to $100 but not 0…
