Just to piggyback off this comment, this is the only location in the WA area that sells the physical gift cards. I went to both the Bellevue and Renton Hyatt Regency’s and they told me to go buy them on-line.

Also, they had issues processing my payment so they wanted me to go and buy them at the Olive 8 down the street but I kept insisting politely to try on another machine and it eventually worked.

I took advantage of this offer in early May, and now I see a July 18 expiry on this same offer, which is under the “added” section of Amex offers.

I am assuming this isn’t a new, separate offer, but stranger things have happened with Amex…. 😉

It depends on how much you’re going to spend and how much you value Amex MR points.

If you value Amex MR points at 2 cpp, your break-even would be spending $600 at Hyatt ($600 in spend with 5x earnings at 2 cpp would net you $60 back); if you plan to spend more than $600, book with Amex, or if you plan to spend less than $600, book through Hyatt with this offer.

Actually using your numbers at 2 cpp it would be a $750 break even point since you get one Amex point if the offer is saved to a MR earning card.
So $15 worth of points on MR earning card + $60 statement credit = $75 break even. That would put break even on 5x card at 2cpp at $750.

Wouldn’t you also be giving up 5 WoH points for most bookings through Amex travel? (I think you still get WoH bene’s from FHR bookings).

I would choose 5 WoH, 1 MR and $60 over 5MR and I don’t think its that close for most cases.

Yes. I purchased a $300 physical gift card at the front desk and the offer posted the next day.
