Just to piggyback off this comment, this is the only location in the WA area that sells the physical gift cards. I went to both the Bellevue and Renton Hyatt Regency’s and they told me to go buy them on-line.

Also, they had issues processing my payment so they wanted me to go and buy them at the Olive 8 down the street but I kept insisting politely to try on another machine and it eventually worked.

I took advantage of this offer in early May, and now I see a July 18 expiry on this same offer, which is under the “added” section of Amex offers.

I am assuming this isn’t a new, separate offer, but stranger things have happened with Amex…. 😉

Did anyone have this offer saved and then it disappeared? I made a charge at a HR, never got the notification email and then the offer dropped off from my saved offers. WTF

Which amex cards are seeing this? I don’t see it on my personal platinum amex. Thanks!

Are you better off booking with Hyatt for this offer or booking with amex to get 5x points?

It depends on how much you’re going to spend and how much you value Amex MR points.

If you value Amex MR points at 2 cpp, your break-even would be spending $600 at Hyatt ($600 in spend with 5x earnings at 2 cpp would net you $60 back); if you plan to spend more than $600, book with Amex, or if you plan to spend less than $600, book through Hyatt with this offer.

Actually using your numbers at 2 cpp it would be a $750 break even point since you get one Amex point if the offer is saved to a MR earning card.
So $15 worth of points on MR earning card + $60 statement credit = $75 break even. That would put break even on 5x card at 2cpp at $750.

Wouldn’t you also be giving up 5 WoH points for most bookings through Amex travel? (I think you still get WoH bene’s from FHR bookings).

I would choose 5 WoH, 1 MR and $60 over 5MR and I don’t think its that close for most cases.

Does this actually work if you buy a gift card?

Yes. I purchased a $300 physical gift card at the front desk and the offer posted the next day.
