The Offer

  • Get 1,500 Membership Rewards points or a $15 statement credit when using your registered Amex card to spend $100+ at Macy’s or macys.com.

The Fine Print

  • Offer expires 6/18/18.
  • $100 threshold can be met in a single purchase or spread across multiple purchases.
  • Offer valid online and in-store.
  • Valid at any participating location in the US and US Territories. Not valid at outlet locations (in-store and online). Excludes Nespresso boutiques, pop-up stores, parking garages, USPS, Stride Rite, Macy’s Bridal Salons, Macy’s Wine Cellar, Macy’s Backstage, Macy’s Travel, Visit Macy’s, Shop For a Cause, New Zoom kiosks/vending machines, restaurants and third party branded shops inside stores, delivery services, WorryNoMore Protection service, Nineteenth Amendment, Men’s Wearhouse Tuxedo Shops, Macy’s Shop at Home and design services and corporate sales.
  • Not valid on purchases shipped outside of the US.

Our Verdict

I found this on about half of my cards, it’s a targeted offer. Buying Macy’s gift cards in-store and online should work. From memory you have to go slow with buying Macy’s gift cards online, also, online portals won’t work.

Looks like this offer may be back (or newly targeted). I just checked my Amex account and put this offer on my car (“Spend $100 or more, get $15 back”). It expires 09/10/2018. For DP purposes, I have the Amex Clear card.

they are enforcing the limit of one statement credit per account rule now. at least on my account, it shows “0 left” for Nike giftcard and macy’s, once you redeemed the offer on one of your cards.

Mine shows “0 left” on the Nike cards as well, but not sure it has anything to do with redeeming on multiple cards. Seems more like they let more people sign up for the offer than they should have and they have now exhausted their budget for that promo.

I used the offer on my first linked card on May 7th, got the congrats email, but still haven’t been credited the points. I know the terms say they have 90 days after June 4th to credit, but normally points post in a few days. Can’t complain to AMEX until then, but now don’t plan to try on my second card.

I have successfully earned points for redeeming the Olive Garden offer on multiple cards for transactions after that May 7 date.

Unfortunately, I think Guevara’s supposition is likely correct. To wit, I have both offers on multiple cards but have not used any of them yet. All of my offers look normal in my account; there is no warning of “0 left” displayed.

Got the two offers (one for Macy’s and the second for Nike) on all of my cards. Thanks for sharing the information. However, I am not sure what I should buy there. Purchasing gift cards is not an option for me because I am afraid I will lose them…

Do they enforce “Limit of 1 statement credit(s) per American Express® online account.” I have two cards on the same account and added same offer using two tabs.

This is standard language on all offers, it doesn’t seem to have been enforced in the past.

Why not just create an account for each card?

That isn’t always the case. It’s a line they’ve added to some offers in the last six months or so. The one they always used was “Limit of 1 statement credit(s) per American Express® Card across all American Express offer channels.” Now there is “Limit of 1 statement credit(s) per American Express® online account” and has been enforced previously. I added two offers using the tab trick with that verbiage and used both. Only received credit for one.

Easier to manage one, but I think this reduces number of offers (in my experience) or my card is too new.
