Amex Offers now Showing Points Rewards for Some Offers, Cash Offers Remain Resulting in a Double Dip

Many Reddit members noticed their Amex Offers shift from being cash offers to Membership Rewards points offers. Additionally, their cash offers remained as well allowing for a double rewards opportunity.

It’s well known that some people get their Amex Offers as cash back, even on their Membership Rewards cards, while others sometimes see points offers on those cards. For example, Rover may offer $15 back on a $50 purchase for some cardholders (even on points cards) while others will see 1,500 points back on a $50 purchase. Multiple Reddit members noticed an update which sent them many points offers on cards they previously were only seeing cash offers.

Additionally, the cash offers which showed previously are continuing to show. For example, you may see an offer to get $15 back on a $50 1800flowers purchase, AND to get 1,500 points back on the $50 purchase.

One person tested out a purchase and got the Congrats email from Amex for each offer separately. If you’re lucky to be part of this glitch, you should land up actually getting both rewards.

On top of that, we’ve already noted in the past that some merchants like Fedex and 1800flowers have been showing more than one offer for the same merchant found on the same card. For example, you may see 10% back at 1800flowers AND $15 back on $50 at the same merchant. Attempting a $50 purchase actually should result in THREE Amex credits due to the 10% offer, the points offer, and the cash offer.

Be sure to save the offers first, and remember to stack any purchases with portals, Dosh, etc.

I still only have cash offers, even on my MR earning cards. I only have business cards.

Are you able to switch/share offers by combing amex logins. For example, if I have a cash offer on one login/card and the points offer on a different login/card, can i combine logins and select which cards get which offers? Seem to remember this being a thing.

Yeah. I see the offers but I still can’t use them because of my geographical location. Now Amex just need to give offers that I can use.

I stacked Dell with Amex Platinum’s new $100 benefit + Amex Gold’s 10% off offer + Amex Gold 4pts/$ + Ebate’s new Amex deal @ 15pts/$. I spent around $3000, so I should get $100 off from Amex Platinum + $300 from Amex Gold offer + 12,000 Amex pts from the Gold card + 45,000 Amex pts from eBates + $75 Dell gift card (bonus from one of their deals) + 3% or $90 back in Dell rewards.

I don’t use my gold card right now but just looked and yep more than half are now MR vs cash back. The biggest ones are spend 1250 at casper for 25k MR and spend 500 Norwegian cruises for 15k MR.

I had this happen with a few offers last summer. Both the MR and cash back credited properly and there were no claw backs (but I only used maybe 3 of the double offers)
