The Offer
- Get a coupon for $25 off a $25 qualifying purchase when you are approved for a debit or credit REDcard in-stores and at Target.com, valid from January 19th through February 2nd.
Our Verdict
$25 off $25 isn’t a bad deal, though we’ve seen better; previous offers can be viewed here. Go through Swagbucks for an additional $4 back. There’s no hard pull for the debit card.

Thanks, will repost momentarily.
Well I got approved for the debit card. But where is the coupon? I didn’t see any…
It comes in the mail.
There’s also a 400SB offer on Swagbucks for opening a new Redcard (Debit OR Credit) which can stack for $29 profit.
$54 profit by double dip
Debit card version has pulled EWS for me before but not sensitive.
Is there a credit check for the debit card application process? Not clear from what I read.
Not a frequent Target shopper, thus, usually ignore their marketing promos.
Update: Answer is no. (HT to Upgraded Points)
BTW, thanks for the post!
It does mention twice in the dwbit card app they *may* pull credit reports, but my best guess would be that is more geared rowards the CC.
A clarification on the title, it isn’t the applying that gets you $25 off $25 but the approval. I opened the post thinking that if I applied and was denied (because all credit reports are frozen) I’d still be able to get $25 off $25.
I was going to update the title, but there’s no easy wording that works. The post is clear that it’s only for approvals.
Does the 25 off 25 work on 3rd P GCs?
No. These coupons exclude the following
Excludes alcohol, Apple products, Bose, CVS clinic & pharmacy, dairy
milk, DSLR cameras & lenses, Elf on the Shelf, gift cards, Google
products, GoPro, LEGO, mobile contracts, prepaid cards, Sonos, Target
Optical, Tylenol pain relief, and Weber
Not going for this deal, but will likely get the credit version when a better deal comes around. I already have the debit version. Will I have to cancel that? (I wouldn’t think so but this “one per SSN” stuff in the comments is concerning.)
if you want to save the hard pull, close the debit and open a new debit ( after 48 hrs)
Why would you burn a hard pull for just $25? I think the ‘one per SSN’ posters are mistaken.
I was looking at getting this card anyway once a better deal comes around. Literally said “not going for this deal.” 😂
So I am a little annoyed. I got all the way through the app for the debit card. Verified and linked my checking account and even created a PIN for the debit card. Then…..they need to review my app over the next 7-10 business days?? Anyone else have this issue? Should I call them?
So I called ‘New Account Services’ and looks like they just needed to take an extra step to basically reverify the verification I did during the online app. Almost thought it was because I previously had the prepaid Red Card, but that has been discontinued for years now, so it shouldn’t be considered an ‘open account’. Anyway, now all approved, will still get the 25 off 25, but I’m thinking probs no-go on the SBs, but we will see! It was a newer address I used since I travel for work. I need to just stick to using my actual permanent address and then calling in to change it right after approval to avoid these issues. I hope this helps someone!
Deal is back FYI.
